34MADISONVILLE 0516 It took a while for the Madisonville police to make an arrest Wednesday morning.  36-year-old Adam (WHAY-sar) Huizar was pulled over on I-69 near Exit 108 for a traffic stop due to careless driving.   His vehicle was filled with a number of children under the age of 15, as well as drugs, and guns.  Huizar did not have a driver’s license or auto insurance.  He placed a Glock on the dashboard for easy access by the officers.  The drug dog led them to meth, marijuana, and smoking devices.

22MADISONVILLE 0515 In Madisonville, a man charged with assault during the midnight hour on Wednesday says he was just play- fighting with his wife.  After arriving at the Cross Creek Apartment of 26-year-old Ravon Hamlett,  the officers reported that the woman had a large scratch, but it not require medical attention.  She said their verbal altercation escalated.

23MADISONVILLE 0514 The man who would not leave another man’s front porch is facing three charges.  Michael (muh-ROSS) Mross of Little Rock-Arkansas was arrested Monday night.  The caller stated that after the call to the police, Mross began walking down South Madison.  During a search, Mross was found to be in possession of a clear glass pipe with what was thought to be meth residue.  

0517 18MADISONVILLE 0514 A free program for woman is coming up on Saturday in Madisonville.  Faith Missionary Baptist says their Rooted in Faith Women’s Conference will be from 10 until 3. It will feature Laura & Maleka West of L-O-L Ministry.  Faith Missionary Baptist is at 102 Pleasantview Road.

13MADISONVILLE 0525 Good news for Christian County motorists using the westbound lanes of I-24.  They’re going to make it a smoother drive. The project will require daytime lane restrictions next week.

15WESTERN KENTUCKY 0516 Early voting is underway.  The hours today and tomorrow are 8 to 4.  Hopkins County voters are to report to the Ballard Convention Center on East Arch.  Webster County voters will be marking their ballots at the Senior Center on North College Street.

19MADISONVILLE 0516 Sometimes the police spot a person they know has an outstanding arrest warrant.  24-year-old Christopher Kirby of Madisonville was spotted on Hall Street Wednesday night.  When Kirby saw the cop car, he began to run, but could not get away.  Now, fleeing from the police will be added to Kirby’s record.

30WASHINGTON DC 0516 A Kentucky lawmaker in Washington says the Biden Administration believes it’s more important to protect the federal bureaucracy, rather than taking steps to increase the American people’s confidence in it.  Representative James Comer was a guest on Fox Business.  He also described the national media.

22HOPKINS COUNTY 0515 For the first time, students at Hopkins Central will have the chance  to become certified in welding.  The school has purchased seven new Miller Multimatic 2-25 welders.  Grant funding is making this possible.  The funds came from the Kentucky Future Farmers of America Foundation and the Ag Achievers Grant.   The course begins next year.

0620 24MADISONVILLE 0425 A Madisonville team will be headed to the nationals in June.  The  Pennyrile Gymnastics South Prep Level 1-point-1 team is undefeated .  Head coach LeeAnn (flin-nur) Flener says their last competition of the year will be at the Amateur Athletic Union, or A-A-U Gymnastics Open National Championship beginning June 20th in Orlando.

24MADISONVILLE 0514 The Madisonville man who fell about 9 feet over the railing at an apartment complex is being charged with possession of synthetic drugs.   Levi Hill was arrested on Saturday evening at the Hidden Hill Apartments on Connor Court.  The police report indicates Hill denied any medical attention and that he was in possession of synthetic drugs.  Hill had been convicted once before for the same thing.

16MADISONVILLE 0513 In Madisonville, the driver of a Dodge Charger that had excessively tinted windows is facing five charges.  the other afternoon, the officer learned that Felicia Howard had an active arrest warrant.  A search of her vehicle produced meth, and synthetic drugs.

43KENTUCKY 0514 A traveling Roadshow in Kentucky this spring and summer is intended to provide professionals with important updates on the economy, Medicaid, K-CHIP, SNAP, housing, transportation, child care, and suicide prevention. 22KENTUCKY 0501 Two large power providers in the Commonwealth are looking for additional supply sources.  LG&E and KU want to hear about new solar, wind and hydroelectric providers. 22MADISONVILLE 0513 The man who began running in Madisonville once he saw a police car is facing four charges.  Michael Beshear failed to obey the commands of the officer to stop, but ran through a number of yards. Finally, the officer captured him on Union Street.  It was found that Beshear had an active arrest warrant.  He was transported to the county jail.

31MADISONVILLE 0514 In Western Kentucky, the Salvation Army is celebrating National Salvation Army Week.  In the past year, the Salvation Army in Madisonville, Henderson, and Owensboro have served more than 9-thousand individuals and families.  They also have provided over 66-hundred nights of shelter and served over 57-thousand meals.  At Christmas, over 11-thousand toys and gifts were given to children.  The Salvation Army in Madisonville on McCoy Avenue invites you to visit their Facebook page.

44MADISONVILLE 0513 When the subject in Madisonville turns to finances, it’s not long before the restaurant tax is mentioned.  Mayor Kevin Cotton says it is a key factor in moving the needle forward for the city through a number of projects.

36MADISONVILLE 0508 The driver of a Toyota Corolla is facing three charges in Madisonville.  After running his license plate, the M-P-D did a traffic stop on Donald Dugger on East  Center Street Tuesday morning.  The  computer encouraged the officers to verify proof of insurance.  Dugger said he had no insurance.  He  told the officer that if he was taken to jail, he would die due to his methadone addiction.  The k-9 came and  located some marijuana in the floorboard.  Dugger was charged with failure to have insurance and with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

24MADISONVILLE 0430 The Madisonville police say a traffic stop on South Main last week is what led to seven charges.  37-year-old Tina Sandefur of Providence could not produce a driver’s license.  When her Dodge Durango was searched, it produced a glass pipe with meth residue, and several bottles of pills that were improperly stored.  Sandefur’s charges include being in possession of meth and hydrocodone.

25MADISONVILLE 0509 A relatively new program at the Hopkins County Jail is a win-win.  Every Wednesday, volunteers spend time with the dogs at the Humane Society which is located next door to the jail on Laffoon Trail, .  The dogs love the human contact and the inmates love the dogs.  Channel 14 is reporting that the inmates get community service credit for walking, playing with, and loving the dogs.

28KENTUCKY 0503 This is Mental Health Awareness Month.  Governor Beshear says many people have endured trama, but now, there are more tools to provide help.   One of them is the 9-8-8 Crisis Number.

25 MADISONVILLE 0506 As you can imagine, cops are pretty good at identifying drivers who appear to be intoxicated.  36-year-ol Amanda Eisenhower of Madisonville was pulled over on Friday afternoon on Stagecoach Road after the officer perceived her driving to be careless.  She had slurred speech and struggled to maintain the conversation.  Eisenhower  had multiple pill bottles in her Mercury Sable.    

18PROVIDENCE 0513 The Providence police are commenting about some threatening comments made on Friday by a student at the elementary school.  School officials are not releasing all of the details, except to say that the School Resource Officer handled it will.  School officials say the safety of the children is always the top priority.

30KENTUCKY 0508 Many are hoping the state will expand uninterrupted health coverage for very young children.  Emily Beauregard is with Kentucky Voices for Health.  She says Kentucky covers kids through Medicaid and K-CHIP for one year continuously.

On Wednesday morning, the 22nd at 10, the ribbon will be cut on the National Fitness Campaign Court.  It’s located next to Felix E. Martin, Jr. Hall.  It features seven workout stations.  This organizations credited for this project are the school district, Owensboro Health, and the Felix E. Martin, Jr. Foundation.

10HOPKINS COUNTY 0405 Once again, the painted bicycles will be making an appearance around Madisonville.  The Community Service Road Crews at the county jail have been doing a lot of painting for the Woman’s Club.

16HOPKINS COUNTY 0510 The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office is using its Facebook page to distribute a surveillance photograph of two men involved in a copper theft.  The crime occurred in Mortons Gap behind a barn on Barnsley Loop last week.  The sheriff’s office is hoping to get the identification.

28HOPKINS COUNTY 0511 This is the mowing season in Western Kentucky.  Some maintenance activities are being addressed this week. In Hopkins County, mowing is scheduled for sections of U-S 41, and U-S 41-A.   The mowing also includes state highways 10-33 and 2-81.  Later this week, cross drain replacement will take place on Kentucky 10-69 and at the intersection of US 62 and US 41.

13WHITE PLAINS 0511 White Plains has a new mayor.  Ben Almon had been serving as mayor pro tem.  He replaces Josh Slaton.  Almon will serve subject to the provisions of Section 152 of the state constitution.

18PROVIDENCE 0510 In Providence, there are some new parking restrictions.  They were passed last week by the city council.  It is not lawful to park on a city sidewalk, walkway, bike path, or any pedestrian right of way.  The fine will be at least 25-dollars.  No citations will be issued right away.

25MADISONVILLE 0510   After witnessing a driver not use his turn signal, the M-P-D offical entered his license plate to discover that the vehicle’s registration had expired and that the driver did not possess a valid driver’s license.  During the traffic stop at just after 3 on Friday morning on McLeod Lane,  37-year-old Dalton Cramer of Lexington could not prove he had insurance.  Cramer was transported to the county jail.

14Madisonville 0509 In Madisonville, the Transportation-Sanitation Committee  will meet this afternoon.  They will discuss the ordinance concerning garbage and refuse.  The meeting begins at 3:30 at city hall in the council conference room.

27MADISONVILLE 0411 The community is still getting used to the new Madisonville police dog.  K-9 Cash is an emotional comfort animal.  Kelly Forbes of the Patrick Rudd Project says Cash’s handler is Major Jason Jones.

38WASHINGTON, D.C.0510 Our junior senator is promoting a measure that would give local broadcasters and newspapers much-needed relief from outdated government restrictions.  Rand Paul says the Local News and Broadcast Media Preservation Act would exempt print, broadcast, and digital news organizations from federal antitrust laws to allow them to compete with and negotiate with national tech companies.  It would also eliminate the local and national caps on radio and television ownership and would create an environment which would allow maximum flexibility for competition and negotiation.

25WEBSTER COUNTY 0506 You know what a sheriff’s deputy is going to do after witnessing a vehicle disregard a stop sign in the middle of the night.  Sunday morning at 1:52, a Webster County deputy pulled over Jennifer Duncan in Sebree.  He noticed she was under the influence of alcohol and controlled substances.  Duncan was charged with 8 crimes, including being in possession of a stolen handgun.  

23WEBSTER COUNTY 0503 A utility company located near the Henderson-Webster line will be conducting an early morning rolling roadblock on Mothers Day, May 12th.   Big Rivers Electric says it will be on I-69 at the 133-mile marker.  The roadblocks are expected to begin around 8.  The roadblocks will allow crews to pull conductors across the entire width of the interstate.

31MADISONVILLE 0509 The woman stopped by the police on I-69 Wednesday afternoon due to reckless driving is admitting that she was delivering meth from Michigan to Tennessee.  59-year-old Debbie Reynolds of Elsie-Michigan was arrested in Madisonville around 2 o’clock.  She was not able to show a driver’s license.  Reynolds claimed to have a medical marijuana card but it wasn’t with her.   Her charges include trafficking a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana.  She also was in possession of drug paraphernalia.

22DAWSON SPRINGS 0509 In Dawson Springs, the school district is in the process of constructing a FEMA-approved tornado shelter.  It’s expected to be completed before the summer of 2026.  Presently, the schools are not certified as tornado shelters.  This means, if there is a tornado warning, they will not be available.  Residents are encouraged to develop their own a safety plan.

30KENTUCKY 0508 State officials say they need more time to begin the process of reauthorizing people on Medicaid after the pandemic.  Emily Beauregard is with Kentucky Voices for Health.  She says nationally, kids are losing their Medicaid and CHIP coverage, but that’s not the case in the Commonwealth.

17MADISONVILLE 0507 The M-P-D is charging a man arrested on an outstanding warrant with two more crimes.  On Monday, Jesse Posey was picked up at the Comfort Inn on Powell Drive. When the officer smelled marijuana, Posey led them to an assorted number of T-H-C vape pens, and a bag thought to contain marijuana.

16HANSON 0508 In Hanson, water and sewer rates are going up.  The city council approved the increase at this week’s meeting.  Customers will pay four more dollars for every 2-thousand gallons.  Those outside of the city will pay a higher rate.  The increase will first be reflected on the May 24th bill.

33WESTERN KENTUCKY 0503 Medical, dental, optical and veterinary care will be made available to many Western Kentucky residents at no charge this summer.  The Delta Regional Authority and the U-S Department of Defense will do a training mission for 11 days in Henderson at the South Middle School.  It begins on June 15th. 19Madisonville 0507   When a cop knows that a driver does not have a valid license, it speeds up the arrest process.  Jeremiah Allison was spotted on Grapevine Road Monday morning.  He told the officer that he also did not have auto insurance. Since Allison had the odor of marijuana, he admitted that he was in possession of several bags.

22WEBSTER COUNTY 0508 The news about the Webster County Schools is encouraging.  The Imagine Nation Award, three words, is presented to schools and districts that demonstrate outstanding commitment to the effective implementation of an Imagine Learning program.  The figures show the Webster County Schools are in top 6 percent in the nation.

19MUHLENBERG COUNTY 0508 In Muhlenberg County, data is being collected to help identify the needs and the priorities of the county.  Bowen National Research is an independent third-party market feasibility study provider. 25MADISONVILLE 0506 In Madisonville, an argument that turned physical is what led to an arrest on Saturday afternoon.  There was physical evidence that the complainant had been injured at a residence on Sunrise Place.  The 9-1-1 dispatcher reported to the police that a screaming woman could be heard during the call for help.    The police report states that there was evidence that Charles Taylor was under the influence of alcohol.  Taylor was arrested.

25FRANKFORT 0507 The countdown is on.   Only one year remains before the federal REAL I-D Act goes into service.  It will be required for air travel, as well as access to military bases and many federal buildings.  The REAL I-D driving and identity credentials can be requested at any Driver Licensing Regional Office.  A Kentucky REAL ID is not needed for for international travel.

16EARLINGTON 0507 In Earlington, the city now has a group of Junior Ambassadors.  The South Hopkins Middle School 8th Grade Wildcat Leadership Academy is a  joint effort of the school and the city.

27MADISONVILLE 0506 A Hanson man stopped on I-69 on Friday afternoon will be facing 7 charges.  The vehicle of 34-year-old Jordan Ostrander was searched by the K-9 Loki .  The dog located fentanyl, marijuana, and meth.  Hydrocodone pills and another unidentified bottles of pharmasuticals were also located.  Also arrested was a passenger.  Heather Williams  was found to be in possession of meth and drug paraphernalia.

25FRANKFORT 0503 According to Hopkins County’s representative in the state house,  the Assembly is committed to protecting consumers, but ultimately, residents need to play it safe in this age of financial scams. Wade Williams says we must guard our financial information. He says scammers are always coming up with new ways to deceive. 32WASHINGTON DC 0506 A Kentucky lawmaker in Washington says the president’s border crisis has created a major government problem.  Here is Representative James Comer.

23GREENVILLE 0506 More jobs are headed to Central City.  The one-million dollar expansion of Central Screen Printing at 405 East Everly Brothers Boulevard will add 50 jobs over the next three years.  The company was awarded close to a million dolllars by the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority.  Channel 14 is reporting that eight more employees have already been hired.

22MADISONVILLE 0506 The Madisonville woman charged with shooting and killing her husband three years ago will spend 15 years in prison as part of the plea deal.  54-year old Raven Hamlett lived at 54 South Harrig Street.  The murder of 61-year-old Benigno Feliciano occurred in March of 2021.  Hamlett said that voices told her to kill her husband.

15HOPKINS COUNTY 0506 In Hopkins County, the fiscal court will be in session this (Tuesday) morning.  New business includes the first reading of an ordinance that would amend the Personnel Administration Policy in regards to Vacation Accrual.  The meeting will be at 10 at the Government Center.

26EVANSVILLE 0606 Dawson Springs is poised to move into an industrial development project. Channel 14 is reporting that the city will receieve 2 million in state support for a 4 million dollar project.  It’s being reported that the matching funds will come from insurance money the city received after the destruction caused by the December 2021 tornado. The mayor says the new business will provide much needed jobs.

48KENTUCKY 0401 Most of those in prison for substance abuse disorders feel like they need  a plan and a support system to improve their recovery chances.  In Greenup County, this information has led to the development of a program known as First Day Forward.  Project coordinator Brittany Herrington says 70-percent of the participants need fundamentals like a photo I-D, Social Security card or birth certificate, to begin to find work.

6WESTERN KENTUCKY 0506 The National Weather Service is calling for on and off periods of showers and thunderstorms through Thursday morning.  

33MADISONVILLE 0502 The woman caught driving 97 miles an hour on I-69 during the noon hour last week is facing four charges.   The officer’s blue lights did not stop 20-year-old Amber Wilkins of Petersburg, Indiana.  As she sped up, she was swerving and almost caused an accident involving two vehicles.  Just before hitting some stop sticks in Henderson County, Wilkins’ Chevrolet Cruz came to a stop.  She admitted she had smoked marijuana just before she began to drive. Wilkins was then transported to the detention center.

28MADISONVILLE 0506 The mayor of Madisonville is being commended by a non-profit, non-partisan coalition of over 63-hundred individuals and organizations that are promoting general aviation.  The Alliance for Aviation Across America supports Kevin Cotton’s decision to proclaim this as General Aviation Appreciation Month.  They say the aviation proclamation  helps to highlight the vital contributions of general aviation to the community of Madisonville.

26MADISONVILLE 0502 The Madisonville driver who ran through a stop sign in the middle of the night last week morning and continued in a reckless manner is facing 4 charges.  During the traffic stop on McCoy Avenue,  35-year-old Alex Aparin was found to be driving an unregistered Saturn Vue. He was also not able to prove that he had auto insurance.  A search of Aparin’s vehicle produced a T-H-C vape pen.

33HOPKINS COUNTY0423 Progress is being made in the project to move the sheriff’s office out of downtown Madisonville.  County Judge Executive Jack Whitfield says the new facility is expected to improve response times.

38MADISONVILLE 0502 Late Wednesday night, a Madisonville cop spotted a speeding vehicle that did not have a visible registration plate.  This led to the arrest of 43-year-old Jess Cheeks of Louisville on 7 charges.    Central Dispatch informed the officer that Cheeks’ did not have a Kentucky license or registration.  The K-9 Drax detected a glass meth pipe.  Both Cheeks and his passenger denied that it belonged to them. The passenger was also arrested on a drug charge.  43-year-old Jennifer Cassidy of Louisville was found to be in possession of meth and drug paraphernalia.

26GREENVILLE 0502 The newest facility of the Fire Academy of Kentucky is in Greenville.  The Kentucky Fire Commission says the ribbon cutting ceremony was last week for the 8-million-dollar, 16-thousand square-foot training facility. Not only will it teach how to put out fires, but will also offer instruction on survival and rescue. Construction of the drill tower and dormitory are not yet complete.

15HOPKINS COUNTY 0502 In Hopkins County, the animal shelter is in need of dog food.  The shelter says the community plays a crucial role in supporting the shelter work.  They are deeply appreciative.  The humane society is at 22-10 Laffoon Trail.
