37WEBSTER COUNTY 0430 Sometimes, one crime investigation solves a second crime.  On Saturday, the Webster County Sheriff’s Office did a traffic stop.  They discovered that the driver’s license of Steve Twedell of Providence was suspended.  He told the deputies that he was going to help some friends whose vehicle was stuck near the Tradwater River.  Deputies located the disabled vehicle and learned that Christina Peters and Derrick Atkins each had an active arrest warrant. The W-C-S-O also located marijuana and meth in their possession.  Now, Peters and Atkins are at the detention center.

20HOPKINS COUNTY 0429 In Hopkins County, the school district will soon accept credit cards.  Beginning in the fall, students, staff, families, and the public can begin using credit and debit cards, as well as eChecks.  There will be what they are calling a soft launch in May at a few locations to test the system.  You’ll be hearing more about it.

13HOPKINS COUNTY 0429 In Hopkins County, the school district is conducting an online survey to guage the Future Ready Graduate initiative.  All students, staff, and parents are invited to complete the survey.  Details are on social media.

31MADISONVILLE 0429 The M-P-D has the report of a Friday night burglary.  The homeowner’s video shows Rosamay Johnson in the victim’s yard beating the lock on a storage building.  The homeowner and a neighbor each identifed Johnson as the person who caused the damage.  They say the building was rummaged through but that nothing was taken.  When the police spoke with Johnson, they said she was still wearing the clothing seen in the video. She said she was helping a friend.  Meanwhile, the homeowner is getting an estimate to repair the damages.

38Webster County 0430 The state senator representing Henderson, Hopkins, Union, and Webster is sounding the alarm about a federal rule that many see as faulty.  Robbie Mills says the E-P-A does not understand that green power producers are not capable of meeting our energy needs.  Here is Jim Matheson of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.
