Eva Jean Gatlin, 95 of Mortons Gap passed away Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. Born May 4, 1931, to the late James Oscar and Lillie (Ashley) Brown. She was a faithful Christian and member of Church of Christ in Madisonville. Eva loved and happily accepted her title as “MawMaw” to her grandchildren, their friends and the children of her church. She enjoyed her fellowship and the friendship she had with her “walking friends.” She was always ready for a little shopping trip or an invite to go out-to-eat. MawMaw loved the peace that she felt knowing that she had a hand in helping to lead her family to the Lord.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Odis Everett Gatlin; son, Mark Gatlin; and her 11 older siblings.
Survived by her son, Mitchell (Shelley) Gatlin of central Texas; daughter, Dawn (DeYone) Miller of Mortons Gap; grandchildren, Dylan (Victoria) Gatlin, McKenzie (Brady) Beene, Ben (Anna) Gatlin, Chase (Rachel) Miller and Chet (Mikayla) Miller; great-grandchildren, Adeleen Miller and expecting a second special one soon; and her dearly loved “walking friends”.
Funeral service and burial arrangements are pending at Bandy Funeral Home.
