The National Weather Service says temperatures are inching upward and that rain
is possible this weekend.
The Madisonville police say the woman who assaulted a person with a large metal bar on Sunday evening is in jail. The incident with Abigail Upchurch occurred in the 300 block of Park Row. The victim says the incident began as an argument. Upchurch says it was not an intentional injury but one that happened as the result of the struggle.
The western Muhlenberg town of Graham is poised to be the site of two defense projects involving explosives. Some are saying the one-billion dollar defense manufacturing and explosives hub would make TNT and IMX. IMX-104 is an explosive used mostly in artillery shells. Both new plants must meet EPA standards. One study projects the need for 2,500 construction workers for the next four to five years for these projects. Graham is already
the site of some explosives companies.
In Washington, our junior senator says the government needs to act carefully with AI.
Senator Paul blocked an attempt to quickly pass legislation that would require companies to build a kill switch into their
artificial intelligence model.
Madisonville Community College has an announcement for Muhlenberg County. MCC Workforce Solutions will begin offering CDL training in Greenville in April of next year. There will be an open house to describe the program at the West Kentucky Regional & Technical Training Center later this month.
The Madisonville driver whose license plate was not being fully displayed is facing four charges. During the traffic stop on East Center Street, the police report states that Madison Gipson had the qualities of an intoxicated person. After failing the test, Gipson admitted she had been drinking. A search of her Honda Accord produced marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
The state police are charging a Muhlenberg County man with a number of crimes, including murder. A witness told authorities that the victim had been with Skylar Shanks at his home on Wild Horse Lane near Central City when there was a gunshot. Killed was 39-year-old Amber DeArmond. Troopers were told that a man with blood on his clothes was seen near a shed at a residence on Kentucky 70. Shanks was found hiding under a pool deck. He was trying to get away until he was tased. After a search warrant had been obtained, troopers found bloody clothes and meth. Shanks will be arraigned on October 12th.
This is the time of year when motorists encounter the most collisions with wildlife. The animals are seeking habitat, food sources and mates. A new report from the Pew Charitable Trusts said investing in road-stream crossings could be a solution to the problem. The road-stream crossings are intentionally designed to provide safe passage for wildlife.
Hopkins County’s state senator says he is honored to again receive the endorsement of the Commonwealth Policy Center. Robby Mills says he’s for Kentucky values that protect innocent life, marriage between one man and one woman, religious liberties, and sound economic policies. Election day is Tuesday, November 3rd.
