The man wanted for numerous offenses including an active parole warrant and felony assault is now lodged in the Hopkins County jail. On Sunday, 39-year-old Dustin Suttle swam across the Tradewater River is his failed attempt to escape from sheriff’s deputies. Two deputies jumped into the river to prevent Suttle from a medical emergency. His 13 charges include assault 2nd and 4th degree, and wanton endangerment of a police officer.
This is the first year that Hopkins County residents have dropped off their property taxes at the new sheriff’s office. On I-69, take Exit 1-11 and turn to 2-61 Responders Lane which is next to the Western Kentucky Archery Complex. Property Taxes can no longer be paid at the Government Center.
A Central City teenager is charged in last month’s death of an 11-month-old. Due to probable cause being found, 19-year-old Elijah Mayes, who was babysitting Grayson Walton, will be bounded over to the next session. It is tentatively set for October 16th, but the circuit court clerk says that will be up to the commonwealth attorney. Mayes is also the child’s uncle.
In Greenville, the police are holding two juveniles charged with stealing items from vehicles in the area of North Main and Trowbridge Street. The police want to thank those who phoned in tips that helped helped with their identification.

The MPD is reporting the arrest of a motorist who was swerving her Ford Fusion all over Sandcut Road. During the traffic stop, 34-year-old Zuri Wester smelled like alcohol and could not provide her driver’s license. After failing the sobriety test, Wester was charged with three crimes, including driving under the influence of an illegal substance.
When the Hopkins County Fiscal Court meets this morning, the magistrates will hear the first reading of an ordinance that would amend a license fee upon some insurance companies. It begins at 10 o’clock at the Government Center in Madisonville.

Frankfort is reporting that more than 12,000 residents registered to vote last month. That’s the most in two years. Secretary of State Michael Adams says independent voters and those who are aligned with third parties again have out-registered Democrats and Republicans. September also saw just over 5,000 deceased voters removed from the system.
