Vickie Louise Plummer Barnes, age 69, passed away on October 3, 2026, at Baptist Health Deaconess following complications from COPD. Born on April 13, 1957, in Visalia, California. She grew up in Ogallala, Nebraska, before moving with her family to Madisonville, Kentucky, at the age of 16. It was in Madisonville that she met Steve Barnes, and the two went on to share 51 years of marriage.
Vickie and her husband, Steve, co-founded Signwriters in Madisonville in 1988. She began her banking career in 2003 at U.S. Bank, later continuing with Old National Bank before retiring from Hancock Bank in 2015.
More than any title she held, the one she treasured most was “Gigi.” Her family, especially her girls and grandchildren, meant everything to her, and she cherished the time they spent together. In retirement, Vickie enjoyed oil painting, quilting, crafting, traveling and, most of all, time with the people she loved. Her family finds peace and comfort in knowing that she is now completely healed and at home with Jesus.
Vickie was preceded in death by her mother, Pat Plummer, and her sister, Debbie Everly.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Barnes; daughters, Kacy (Todd) Hackett of Okeechobee, Florida, and Keri (David) Langner of Georgetown, Indiana; grandchildren, Kamryn Hackett, Brystal Hackett, Anslay Hackett, Eli Langner, and Ellori Langner; and her father, Marvin (Barbara) Plummer.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Bandy Funeral Home in Nortonville, Kentucky. Burial will follow at New Salem Cemetery in Nortonville.
