A premier sports and recreation venue in Madisonville is teaming up with a fiber broadband Internet and advanced communication service. TEC will serve as the presenting sponsor of the Kentucky Sports Factory through July 31st of 2046 for the purposes of establishing a long-term connection with families, athletes, visitors, and the broader community. In fact, the new name is Kentucky Sports Factory, Connected by TEC.
Due to lack of a quorum, the Madisonville city council will not meet on Monday, October 5th. The next meeting will be Monday, the 19th. In addition to the city council on the 19th, the budget and finance committee will meet at 3, and the annexation and zoning committee will meet at 3:30. These meetings are on the second floor of 77 North Main.
There’s another change to the schedule to improve the south bound bridge at Henderson. Senator Robby Mills says there will continue to be a lane restriction on the south bound bridge until late next week. At that time, there be a new traffic configuration on the northbound bridge that will involve three lanes of traffic, two going north and one going south. This configuration will stay in place until replacement parts are manufactured for the south bound bridge .
There’s a free mammogram program at Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville. There will be a screening for those judged to be uninsured and under-insured that meet the guidelines for the average risk for breast cancer. The police officer that visited a residence on Polly Drive is charging a man with seven crimes. The police report states that Arthur Gray smelled like alcohol and was acting as though he was intoxicated. Multiple pill bottles were located as well as suspected crack cocaine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. It was also found that Gray is a convicted felon who was in possession of a handgun.
The police often contact the National Crime Information Center to get information about motor vehicles. After the Madisonville cops spotted a Toyota Camry on Grapevine Road recently, they learned that it likely was not insured. During the traffic stop, the officer asked Jonathon Pickeral for his driver’s license and proof of insurance. Pickeral could not produce either of them. This was the second time that he had been charged with not having insurance which will increase his penalty.
On Sunday, flags at all state buildings will be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset to honor Kentucky State Police Trooper Hayden Phillips who was fatally shot in the line of duty on Monday.
In Frankfort, the state is implementing a new driver licensing database to replace a nearly 40-year-old system. It’s described as significantly more efficient. So far, more than 30,000 have created a my-Drive online account. The portal can be used to make an address change, or to access services to replace a lost ID. Governor Beshear really likes it.
