The Madisonville police are in the process of informing a family that the male body of one of their members has been located in the city park lake near the swimming pool. When the family is notified, the man’s identity will be released. No foul play is suspected. The body was found by two men fishing in the park early Tuesday afternoon.
The traffic stop of a Jeep Patriot on I-69 with overly dark window tinting is what resulted in a drug arrest. Isaiah Johnson was also driving under the speed limit to the point that it was causing congestion. The officer reported smelling marijuana as he began his investigation. Behind the glove box, bags of cocaine and marijuana were located. Johnson claimed possession.
The Madisonville Fire Department is in the process of constructing a new station on the southside of town. Chief Jason Eli gave an update at this week’s city council meeting.
Here’s some good news for Western Kentucky’s coal communities. Congressman James Comer is announcing that more than 6 million dollars is on the way to strengthen emergency healthcare, expand workforce training, and prepare more Kentuckians for good-paying careers in manufacturing. Mr. Comer and local leaders are working to attract new investment and create job opportunities. The program is called Abandoned Mine-Land Economic Revitalization.
