Dr. Donald Paul Canode, 80, of Madisonville, KY, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Baptist Health Deaconess, surrounded by his family.
He was born March 30, 1946, in Cincinnati, OH, to the late Charles Canode and Mable Beard Canode. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother, Roger Canode.
Donald retired from GE and served as a Pastor. During his time as a pastor, he shared his faith, leading multiple people to the Lord, and was a true man of God. He also pastored many churches during his time as a pastor before becoming a member of Richland Missionary Baptist Church.
He was also an author and a reader. In his free time, he loved to travel and play the piano. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Carolyn Latham Canode of Madisonville; two daughters, Carrie (Brian) Rosorea, and Cheri (David) Crook; one son, Chuck (Becky) Canode; two sisters, Joyce Vidik and Sharon Bolser; one brother, Randy Canode; six grandchildren, Noah, Sidney, Justin, Owen, Josh, Ethan; 3 step grandchildren, Hayleigh, Colin, and Peyton; and one step-great-granddaughter, Emma.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home – Madisonville Chapel with Bro. Jim Lantrip officiating.
Burial will follow at Dunn Cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Friday, September 25, 2026, and from 10:00 A.M. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
