William Gordon “Sput” Nance, 75, of Madisonville, KY, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Deaconess Midtown in Evansville, IN.
He was born September 5, 1951, in Madisonville to the late Gordon Nance and Wilma Mae “Betty” Phillips Nance.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Neal Nance; his daughter, Natalie Nance; and two brothers, James Eden and Paul Wayne “Tudor” Nance.
William made his living as a coal miner. He loved spending his time outdoors, including going hunting and drag racing. Two of his favorite hobbies were playing music and talking on the CB radio.
He is survived by his wife of over 38 years, Mary Lou Edwards Nance; daughter, Emily (Dwayne Gossett) Nance of Manitou, KY; son, Nathan (Brittney) Nance of Madisonville; along with six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home – Madisonville Chapel. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Friday and from 9:00 A.M. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
