The Webster County Sheriff’s Office is glad to report that Deputy Silas Compton has graduated from the Madisonville Criminal Justice Training Academy. Deputy Compton is now transitioning into field training, where he will begin his work as a Deputy Sheriff.
Webster County authorities are holding a man on drug charges. Trevin Bush was pulled over in Providence by deputies because he failed to use a turn signal. During the traffic stop on Edgewood Drive, a K-9 sniffed a quantity of meth and drug paraphernalia.
The state senator representing Hopkins County is like many in Kentucky. Robbie Mills is looking forward to the day that Kentucky has no income tax. He says the nine states that don’t have it, are in a different league from the rest.
Some of the most noted states without income tax are Texas, Florida, and our neighbor to the south, Tennessee.
The Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital is hoping many will take the health needs survey. They say it will only take a few minutes. The information will be used to apply for grant funding. The details are on the Facebook page of the Champions for a Drug Free Muhlenberg County.
Some drivers have too much window tinting. When Morgan Bivins was stopped for that reason on East Broadway, the officer noticed that one of the passengers dropped a baggie of suspected meth. Also found was fentanyl. Bivins was arrested and transported to the detention center.
The Madisonville police say the convicted felon who stole an A-R 15 rifle is in custody. The police learned about the theft in a phone call from the gun’s owner. Using a search warrant at the home of the primary suspect who had been at the gun owner’s residence, they located the weapon. Cell phone data they recovered showed that Xzavior Minton had been trying to sell a firearm for fentanyl. Using another search warrant, they arrested Minton and charged him with tampering with physical evidence. They also located drug paraphernalia and other drug related items. Since a baby was in the home, Minton is charged with endangering the child’s life.
One person is dead and one is injured in a knifing incident in Central City on Saturday night. It was near the Central Inn on East Everly Brothers Boulevard. Dead is 48-year-old Scotty Stewart of Central City. Wounded was 43-year-old John Shanks of Central City. Jailed is 39-year-old Wayne Browning of Drakesboro. He is charged with murder and assault.
Thanks to some temporary repairs, the southbound lane of the Twin Bridges in Henderson is back in service. To bring the bridge back to a safe and dependable condition, a second project will soon begin that will be completed before the end of the year. To correct the primary issues with the bridge’s dependability, three bearings required immediate attention. Now, the state plans to perform permanent repairs that will be completed before the end of the year.
