Marilyn Ann Phelps Edmiston, 89, a longtime resident of Madisonville, Kentucky, passed away Saturday morning, August 15, 2026, at The Farms at Puryear in Puryear, Tennessee.
Marilyn was born March 20, 1937, in Union County, Kentucky, to the late Harry B. Phelps and Ava L. Phelps.
She worked for many years as a Realtor in Madisonville and served with the Madisonville-Hopkins County Board of Realtors. She was also a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Madisonville.
Marilyn was known for her strong will and determination. She was an excellent cook whose meals were an important part of family gatherings. She and her husband, Raymond L. “Jug” Edmiston, especially enjoyed traveling together in their RVs and seeing different parts of the country. Above all, Marilyn was devoted to her family.
Marilyn and Jug shared more than 60 years of marriage before his passing in 2021.
She is survived by her grandson, Brandon Edmiston and his wife, Janet, of Murray, Kentucky; three great-grandsons, Joseph Civitella, Frank Civitella, and Benjamin Edmiston; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marilyn was preceded in death by her son, Terry Lee Edmiston; her daughter, Holly Ann Edmiston Paetz; two brothers, Harry Donald Phelps and Frank Dudley Phelps; and one sister, Wanda Phelps Atkinson Wedeking.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Home Site Cemetery, located on Highway 109 North between Rose Creek Road and Highway 70 in Nebo, Kentucky. The graveside service will begin at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in care of Home Site Cemetery at U.S. Bank, 15 Chelsa Dr., Madisonville, KY 42431.
