Keneuk Lyle Helton, 58, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at his home.
He was born on November 19, 1967, in Honolulu on the Island of Oahu, HI, to Sharon “Latana” Searight Helton St. George and the late William Helton. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired from CSX Corporation as an engineer. He was also a retired firefighter serving at Ft. Campbell, South Hopkins, and McConnell Air Force base fire departments. He enjoyed music and drumming, collecting trains, collecting firefighter memorabilia, and doing yard work. Keneuk attended Pritchett’s Chapel where he played the drums and he was also a drummer at Unity in Christ Church, Abundant Grace, Immanuel Baptist, and several other churches.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Owens; granddaughter, Evelyn Kaye Nordhaus; his grandparents who raised him, Carlton and Lucille Prowse; and Carol Williams who he considered his adopted mother.
His survivors include his wife of thirty-eight years, Leslie Foreman Helton of Madisonville; mother, Latana Searight St. George of Killeen, TX; daughters, Corey (Ryan) Gilliland of Raleigh, NC and Brittny (Kyle) Helton Nordhaus of Earlington, KY; grandsons, Grayson Gilliland, Kayden Gilliland, and Joseph Nordhaus; sisters, Martha Jane Ford of Killeen, TX, Mendie (Doug) Thompson of Texas, Sue Michaels of Morganfield, KY and Pam (Sissy) Helton of Washington State; brothers, Michael Trent of Alabama and Danny (Pam) Helton of Seattle, WA; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Immanuel Baptist Church, 714 Brown Road, Madisonville, KY, with Pastor Brian Richardson, Judge Kim Poe Gilliam, Michael Trent, and Pastor Scott Heltsley officiating. Burial will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens at a later date. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Air Force and the Hopkins County Honor Guard with Firefighter honors to be given by the Fire Department members.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the service hour at the church. Harris Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
