The police are announcing the arrest of a driver who was operating his vehicle while under the influence. The M-P-D located the vehicle being driven by Gary Lilly, and witnessed his reckless driving on Island Ford Road and Whittington Drive. During the traffic stop, the officers reported the strong odor of alcohol in his Jeep Compass. Lilly was unable to pass the sobriety test. He was transported to the county jail.
Kentucky’s Attorney General Russell Coleman is included in the group of A-G’s from around the country that are calling for a federal crackdown on robocalls and texts. The group wants stricter regulations from the Federal Communications Commission. Among other things, the A-G’s want to require companies that purchase and resell phone numbers to meet stronger certification rules.
Doctors are saying that tick bites are showing up too often this summer. They say the bite of the Lone Star Tick can produce Alpha-Gal Syndrome. It has the potential to produce allergic reactions to red meat and animal products. It’s suggested that you use tick repellent, wear long sleeves and pants in wooded areas, and do a full body tick check when you’re home.

The Madisonville police are reporting the arrest of an I-69 driver and his passenger during a traffic stop after he made some illegal turns. The police report said that Shawn Payne’s passenger’s hands were shaking uncontrollably. Briann Parr was also unable to follow simple instructions. K-9 Odin led the police to meth and drug paraphernalia. Then the officer was informed that Payne had an active Indiana fugitive warrant and that Parr did not have a driver’s license. Both Payne and Parr were transported to the detention center.
Sometimes an officer spots a person he knows has an arrest warrant. During the traffic stop on North Main Street, Ashland Gwin was in posession of meth and drug paraphernalia. The police reported that the meth in her possession far exceeded the typical user amount.
The Madisonville police say a suspicius driver they pulled over in a traffic stop is facing two charges. The temporary registration posted on the G-M Terrain being driven by Lauren Cox was not property displayed. After the officer also smelled marijuana in the vehicle, she then was informed that Cox was wanted by Indiana police. The search produced meth and a drug paraphernalia.
A new Kentucky law allows 18 to 20-year-olds to carry a concealed weapon. Before a license is issed, applicants must complete required training. The license is only valid in Kentucky and expires when the holder turns 21.
Flags are at half staff to honor the late South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham. The governor has encouraged individuals, businesses and organizations to join in the tribute.
