Owensboro Health has a new Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Erica Gregonis served as Chief Medical Officer and Vice President at Baptist Health Richmond. She is a board-certified physician in Pulmonology and Critical Care Medicine, and has maintained an active clinical practice throughout her leadership career. Dr. Gregonis is replacing Dr. Francis DuFrayne, who will serve as Interim Chief Operating Officer for the Owensboro Health Medical Group during the leadership transition before returning to clinical practice.
In Kentucky, medical cannabis is suddenly too expensive for some patients. Early this month, Frankfort lifted the executive order that allowed conditional pardons for patients traveling out of state to purchase the medication. Now, to support state businesses, the medication has to be purchased in Kentucky. A patient in Hopkinsville says he was paying 24-dollars. Now it’s 130-dollars. He says medical insurance does not cover medical marijuana. The state says prices will come down as the state opens more cultivating and processing facilities.
In Webster County, the school district is planning an orientation for dual credit for high school students. Parents are welcome to come and learn about this educational option for 10th, 11th, and 12th graders involving Madisonville Community College. The event will be on Thursday, August 6th at the county library at 3:30.
