The Madisonville police are reporting the arrest of a convicted felon on handgun possession charges. Braxton Hester stumbled out of his vehicle during the midnight hour on South Railroad Street when he was spotted by the police. After the sobriety test, Hester told the officer that he had consumed several fireball shots along with a couple of beers. After a criminal history check, a Sig Sauer 9-milimeter handgun was found in his possesson . Hester was placed under arrest and charged with four crimes.
Kentucky Congressman James Comer’s House committee is charged with uncovering crimes involving the federal government. On Fox Business, he said that he is urging the Department of Justice to hold Dr. Fauci accountable for such crimes as allowing taxpayer dollars to fund dangerous and secretive gain-of-function COVID research around the world. Mr. Comer says every American should be outraged that their hard-earned tax dollars were used by mad scientists to engineer more deadly viruses.
The City of Madisonville is recognizing the person who has helped minimize overgrowth around North Lake at Madisonville City Park. Tate McGregor was presented with a Certificate of Safety Excellence in recognition of his dedication to the safety of city employees and the citizens of our community. City officials say McGregor’s efforts also contributed to the beauty and enjoyment of one of our community’s treasured locations.
As we all know, our country is 250 years old this year. Madisonville will commemorate the historic event with a new Revolutionary War monument honoring the local patriots. The memorial includes names of Daniel, Peter, and Stephen Ashby, as well as James Bailey, John Montgomery, and William Young. 65 Hopkins County patriots fought for American independence. The event will be on the Old Courthouse Lawn at 10 South Main Street. The Dedication Ceremony begins at 2 on Sunday, the 28th. The event will be held rain or shine.
The Webster County Schools has a new superintendent. The Board of Education says Michael Gooch is a graduate of Webster County High School who brings nearly two decades of experience in public education to the job. Gooch and his wife have three children. He has a four-year contract that begins July 1st.
There’s new leadership at the Salvation Army in Madisonville. Captains Dennis & Jane Smith are from Morgantown, West Virginia. They bring strong experience in ministry, community engagement, and social service leadership. The Smiths will be officially introduced at the Welcome Service on Sunday, the 28th at 11 at 805 McCoy Avenue.
The Green River Area Development District wants to officially thank the members of our Armed Forces who were involved in the Innovative Readiness Training mission which helped so many residents. From medical care and dental services to vision exams, sports physicals, wellness resources, and veterinary services, hundreds of individuals benefited from the no-cost care. GRADD says while the equipment has been packed up and the mission has moved on, the impact left behind will be felt for years to come.
