By most people’s standards, a million of anything is a lot. This year, Hopkins County Schools Child Nutrition officially served their one millionth meal. It occurred this month on the 4th and was served to 3rd grader Joshua Hibbs of Southside Elementary at 8:03 AM.

In Dixon, the splash pad at Baker Park is being upgraded. A Land and Water Conservation Fund and grants will pay for stainless steel water-features at the park, making it more fun and safe. Dixon Waterworks says the splash pad will be open again following the boil water advisory.

The driver of a swerving Ford Fiesta on East Arch Street who was seen by the police is facing six charges. The search of 32-year-old Zackery Clark’s car produced evidence of drug use, that included fentanyl and meth. A handgun was also located.

In Earlington, city officials say the Downtown Mini Park Court, Pavilion, and Forever Tree are complete. They say this court will change the game for young and old because it’s more than just a new amenity, it’s an investment in the community because it provides a safe and inspiring place to play, connect, compete, and grow.
McLean County authorities say one of their highways is again safe to travel. For around three hours, the Sheriff’s Office had to close U-S Hwy 431 between Hwy 250 and Hwy 1080 after an an old military explosive device was found at Phillips Auto Salvage in Calhoun at 608 KY-81. The potential blast radius did not require any homes to be evacuated.
This is for Webster, Henderson, and Union counties. Innovative Readiness Training, or I-R-T, will be available from June 11th to the 21st. It’s a Department of Defense program that pairs military training with community service by allowing reserve and active-duty service members to gain real-world training while providing no-cost services—such as healthcare, construction, and cybersecurity to underserved.
