The M-P-D is charging a man with first degree assault. They say 36-year-old Dustin Townsend stabbed David Yates multiple times. He was transported to Evansville. It’s not yet known what led to the incident. The crime occurred in the 400 block of Hall Street.

It took a traffic collision to force a driver to get insurance and an updated registration. Shawnee Thompson could not produce proof of insurance when the police began investigating the accident at Marketplace. Thompson’s Dodge Dakota also had no registration plate.
In Madisonville, the Economic Development Corporation says manufacturing still plays an important role in Western Kentucky’s economy. At the same time, companies are still looking for communities that are prepared, responsive, and ready to compete. The E-D-C says a lot of work goes on behind the scenes to position communities for future investment and job growth, and those efforts help ensure Madisonville-Hopkins County remains competitive.
The state has a new position to help victims of sexual assault. In fact, Kentucky will be the first state to establish a coordinator to help spot healthcare gaps in the treatment of sexual assault survivors. Last year, it was found that there is a lack of S.A.N.E. nurses. S.A.N.E. stands for Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners. They will be certified to to provide sexual assault kits, provide trauma-informed care to victims, and connect survivors to resources like law enforcement and advocates.
In Webster County, some water customers are experiencing water shortages. The water district says they’re unable to estimate a time for restoration. Additionally, all Webster County Water District customers are under a Boil Water Advisory until further notice. That means boiling the water for at least one minute that’s used for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, or preparing food. The advisory includes Dixon, Clay and Slaughters. They add that the splash pad at Baker Park will also be closed until the water issues are lifted. Speaking of water recreation, the splash pad in Madisonville at Dr. Festus Claybon Park is closed due to a water filtration problem.
The state senator representing Hopkins, Henderson, Union, and Webster counties says he is working hard to make sure our state and federal government knows where Northwest Kentucky is and what our needs are. In the last few days, Robby Mills has been at the White House with a small gathering of state legislators from 12 states getting a policy update on several issues that directly involve the states and and their budgets.
We love the warmer weather but so do the ticks. Federal data suggests this may be one of the worst tick seasons in recent years. One entomologist is suggesting those who hike should stay on the path. He says keeping your feet and legs covered while in high grass will go a long way in protecting yourself from ticks.
Our junior senator in Washington says one of his top priorities is protectinhg the unborn. Rand Paul has earned an A-rating from Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America in legislating to protect the innocent. Paul says he is grateful for the pro-life mission and to be working diligently as a voice for those who do not have one.
