In responding to a call about suspicious activity in a vehicle, the Madisonville police are reporting the arrest of a man who had sexual relations with a minor. The incident involving 20-year-old Jeremiah Sanders occurred on Allison Avenue. He told the police that she told him she was 19. Sanders is in the detention center charged with rape, and unlawful transaction with a minor.
Careless driving is what caught the attention of a Madisonville police officer on North Main Street. During the traffic stop, Kealbred Pauley had no proof of insurance, and an outdated registration plate. Pauley faces four charges, including careless driving.
Thanks to the governor, the price of gas is coming down. Andy Beshear has signed an emergency regulation to freeze the gas tax and signed an executive order declaring a state of emergency which will reduce the price by ten cents a gallon. He also sent letters to Congressional leaders to suspend the federal gas tax until the end of the year.

You might have noticed the low water levels at the city park lakes. The Madisonville City Park Lake South dam is undergoing repairs following damage caused by muskrats. The Kentucky Division of Dam Safety Repairs says the work will likely extend into June. The affected area of the lake is marked off, and water levels are intentionally down. Deputy City Administrator, Brad Long says it’s a 700-thousand dollar project that they city was not expecting.
The traffic stop of a driver who made an illegal turn is what resulted in her arrest. The officer said he spotted in plain view the medication Oxycodone. The officer reported that his training led him to conclude that Tonya Goodman was under the influence of an intoxicating medication. Goodman had recently received 56 oxycodone pills and had only eight remaining.
The Hopkins County School District invites you to the Future Ready Showcase. Students representing each school will defend their learning to show the community how they are future ready. The event is tomorrow evening from 6 until 7 at Madisonville North.
In Hopkins County, a paving project involving almost 13 miles of roads is underway. It involves portions of KY 112 and KY 813. Another crew is starting sidewalk repairs in Earlington today. Then, it’s on to Morton’s Gap for more sidewalk work.
The Muhlenberg County Emergency Management says if you hear the Weather Sirens’s going off, it’s because the county is testing them through Thursday.
The city of Sacramento will be remembering the Battle of Sacramento. The 3-day event will include activities for students, a ladies’ tea, and a battle re-enactment. The dates will be May 15th to the 17th.
