Obituary
He dedicated over forty years of hard work and commitment to CSX Transportation, retiring in 2000 as an engineer conductor. Mike was also a longtime member of Grapevine Baptist Church, where his faith and fellowship were an important part of his life.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, William Woodrow Vaughn in 1990 and his mother, Helen Lee Porter Vaughn in 1998, both of Providence, KY. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gerry Vaughn (Cecile) of Clay, KY, in 2023; and his beloved wife of over fifty years, Janice Tweddell Vaughn in 2017. Their love was a true example of devotion and partnership.
He is survived by his sisters, Janice Faye Vaughn of Cadiz, KY, and Pamela Jane (Mark) Farber of Providence. Mike and Janice cherished their many nieces and nephews, loving them as if they were their own children, and creating countless memories filled with laughter and warmth.
Mike was known for his fun-loving spirit and his ability to bring people together. He found joy in gardening, horseback riding, and woodworking, where his talent once led him to own and operate a cabinet shop. He especially loved cooking and took great pride in preparing delicious home-cooked meals, always happiest when surrounded by family and friends gathered at his table.
Mike will be remembered for his generous heart, his sense of humor, his love of country, and the way he made those around him feel at home.
In accordance with Mike’s wishes, Mike will be cremated, and no funeral service will be held. A celebration of life will be held at a later date for family and friends to gather and honor his memory. Harris Funeral Home was entrusted with care.
