Obituary

Sharon Gail Cates Harris, 82, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at her home.She was born on November 20, 1943, in Providence, KY, to the late Mary Elizabeth Hillyard Cates and Aubrey Lee Cates. She was formerly employed as a certified dental assistant for Dr. Fabel and Dr. Roy Dentistry. She enjoyed genealogy and was a member of the Hopkins County Historical Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was a member of Christian Assembly Church in Madisonville, KY.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Naomi Cates Knox, Douglas Cates, Ruby Henry Cates, Rosetta Cates Crask, Lou Cates Krietzer, and David William Cates.

Her survivors include her husband of sixty-six years, James Ray Harris of Madisonville; son, Chris Harris of Madisonville; daughter, Charlene Harris of White Bluff, TN; sister-in-law, Delene Cates of Evansville, IN; and her brother-in-law, Jerry Krietzer of Evansville, IN.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Christian Assembly Church, 3600 Hanson Road, Madisonville, KY, with Bro. Roy Ellis officiating. Burial to follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Wednesday at the church. Harris Funeral Home is in-charge of the arrangements.
