Raymond Darriel Howton, 90

Raymond Darriel Howton age 90 passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026 at the Veterans Victory House in Walterboro, SC He was born on July 17, 1935 in Beulah, Ky. to the late Justin Elwood Howton and Lillian Louise Howton. Ray lived a long life marked by dedication to his country, strong work ethic, and love for his family. He proudly served in the Air Force where he spent 21 years in service. During his time in the Military he served his country in Vietnam. Following his military service Ray began a career in sales with Sears, where he worked for many years until his retirement. He was known by his coworkers and customers for his friendly personality, reliability and commitment to helping others. He enjoyed woodworking, reading and traveling. He will be remembered for his humor, wisdom and steady presence to those who loved him. He is survived by his daughter Pamela (Patrick) Quigley, Grandson Joseph (Stephanie) Rhodes and three great grandchildren. Step daughter Gayle (Doug) Bryant,and his sister Hilda Herron. He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Bunch Howton, children Larry Howton and Kimberly Hilbourn, brother Harold Howton and sister Shelby Joyce Hobby. A memorial service will be held at Barnett Strother funeral home at 2:00PM. on May 5 2026. The family extends their gratitude to the caregivers at the Veterans Victory House in Walterboro, SC
