Reginald Owen “R.O.” Cabbage, age 85, of Madisonville, Kentucky, passed away at his home on February 28, 2026. R.O. was born on August 5, 1940, in Buttonsberry, Kentucky, to the late Thurman Alexander “Stony” Cabbage and Sarah Evalyne Cabbage. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Curtis Cabbage; his sister, Ruth Ann Hoagland; and his son, Reginald “Rusty” Owen Cabbage Jr. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Cabbage; his daughter, Kimberly Marks of Sacramento; his stepson, Jayson (Tina) Jessup of Madisonville; and his stepdaughter, Michelle (Jeff) Lineberry of Lexington. Additional survivors include his brother, Shirley (Diane) Cabbage of Island; and his sisters, Helen (Wally) Wigginton of Hartford and Eva Cook of Livermore. R.O. is also survived by his grandchildren, Jacquelyn Ball, Heather (Taylor) Peters, Sonnie (Anthony) Smith, Lindsey (Sara) Jessup, Sloane (Blake) Patterson, Rainee Jessup, Autumn Jessup, Conner Lineberry, Caleb Lineberry, Cori (Kyle) Shaw, Shelby (Williams) Calhoun, and Anthony and Lindle Chambers. His great-grandchildren include Logan and Destinee Ball; Andre Reed; Aiden and Addison Peters; Rylan Smith; Lauren and Rhett Jessup; Dani Corn; Ryder Lee; Dawson Shaw; Isabella, Addelyn, and Mallory Calhoun; Katalina Chambers; Avalyn Rodgers; and Lextyn Strunk. He is also survived by his great-great-granddaughter, Arkaiah Alexander, and many beloved nieces and nephews. R.O. served one tour of duty in the United States Army. He retired from AT&T in 1996 after many years of dedicated service. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and belonged to the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, the American Legion, and the Loyal Order of Moose. An avid golfer, R.O. enjoyed time spent on the course and valued the friendships formed there. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his steady presence and devotion to those he loved. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Christ the King Catholic Church with Father Steve Hohman officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Sacramento Presbyterian Cemetery in Sacramento, KY. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, with prayer services at 6:30 P.M., at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home, and from 9:00 A.M. until the service time on Thursday at Christ the King Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Madisonville or Christ the King Catholic School in Madisonville.
