Equipment violations are a common reason for a traffic stop. On Kentucky 1-32 West in Dixon, the Dodge Charger being driven by Jimmy Clark had the smell of burnt marijuana. A search produced a quantity of methamphetamine and marijuana. Clark, and Savannah Glasscock were placed under arrest. Clark is facing 7 charges, including drug possession and failure to maintain insurance. Glasscock is facing three charges, that include possession of meth and drug paraphernalia.
The operator of a moped in Madisonville is facing three charges. Timothy Dukes was seen making an illegal turn. Then it was learned that Dukes had no tail lights or operator’s license.
Hopkins County Fiscal Court meets this morning at 10 at the Government Center. The meeting will include a report from the sheriff on the 20-22 Unmined Coal Settlement.
The Hopkins County Humane Society has their work cut out for them. Director Duston Potenza says they will be raising funds for a new building to replace the one that was destroyed by a wind storm almost a year ago.

A Hopkins County project intended to attract future investment and job growth is getting state funding. The Madisonville-Hopkins Economic Development Corporation has been informed by the governor that it has secured more than one point three million dollars to advance the county’s largest shovel-ready site to full Build-Ready status. The E-D-C says the project positions Hopkins County to compete more aggressively for major industrial prospects by ensuring infrastructure, planning and due diligence-work are in place before a company commits.
The St. Charles and Dawson Springs fire departments are reporting a house fire on Saturday that took almost three hours to extinguish. When the crew began arriving, they were told that someone may be inside, but in time, they found that the house was empty and that everyone was O-K.
In Hopkins County, the Regional Chamber of Commerce hopes you’ll attend the annual State of the Cities and County Address. County Judge Executive Jack Whitfield says it will be Thursday morning at 7:30 at the Ballard Convention Center.

The Transportation Cabinet says 5 miles of I-24 in Christian County is going to be rebuilt in a five-month project that is scheduled to be completed in mid-August. Both westbound lanes from the 88 to 93 mile-points will be removed and rebuilt from the road base up. The project also includes resurfacing the westbound I-24 bridge over West Fork Red River at mile marker 91.
