Gwendolyn Sue Maddox Franklin, 86, of Dawson Springs, KY, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2026, at her home.
She was born on September 26, 1939, in Madisonville, KY, to the late Thelma Heart Maddox and Gordon Maddox. She retired from the Kentucky State Highway Department. She enjoyed woodworking, knitting, crocheting, and quilting. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Sue attended Silent Run Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy Franklin; son, Ricky Dale Franklin; sisters, Barbara Neighbors and Joan Adamson; niece, Sherry Ann Adamson; and her nephew, Danny Ray Adamson.
Her survivors include her daughters, Debra Summers of Dawson Springs, KY, and Ruth (Thomas) Keaveney of Mokena, IL; sons, Gordon (Cynthia) Franklin of Fargo, ND, and Jessie (Jessica) Franklin of Frankfort, IL; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Silent Run Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Nebo, KY with Bro. Jim Lantrip officiating. Harris Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
