Obituary
He was born on July 8, 1941, in Ozark, IL to the late Mina Mae Kennedy Newman and James Hershel Phillips. He retired as a truck driver from the City of Madisonville. Jerry enjoyed car racing, working on cars and doing yard work.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Joann Gooch Phillips; and an infant son; his sisters, Shirley Vincent and Norma Ann Hayes; and his brother, Larry Joe Phillips.
Survivors include his daughters, Shannan (William) Crawford of New Albany, IN and Debbie (Darrell) Hull of Salvisa, KY; sons, Larry Phillips of Madisonville and Danny Ray Baker of Salvisa; special friend, Nancy Utley of Madisonville; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. Eddie Rodgers officiating. The burial will be held at a later date at Silent Run Cemetery in Nebo, KY.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the service hour Saturday at the funeral home.
