Obituary
He was born on September 30, 1959, in Madisonville, KY to the late Mary Elizabeth Jones Coakley and Melvin Virgil Coakley. Perry was a coal miner at Warrior Coal Company. He enjoyed riding horses. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and adoring grandchildren. Perry was of the Christian faith.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Virgil Coakley, Marshall Coakley, Gary Coakley, Terry Coakley and Jerry Coakley; sister, Sue Holmes; and his grandson, Bentley Lain Coakley.
Survivors include his wife of forty-one years, Meko Crook Coakley; daughters, Ashley (Jeremy) Dame of Madisonville and Amber Coakley of Oceanside, CA; son, Dillan Coakley of Nebo; brother, Roger (Susan) Coakley of Madisonville; sisters, Betty Hopper of Mortons Gap, KY, Judy (Ben) Hancock of Hopkinsville, KY, Ann (Clint) Clevenger of White Plains, KY and Jannie Coakley of Madisonville; grandchildren, Kylee Dame, Rylen Dame and Wren Dame; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Pastor Chris Manning officiating. Burial to follow at Johnson Island Cemetery in Nebo.
A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour Wednesday at the funeral home.
The pallbearers are Brian Kirkwood, Bryton Parris, Hunter Robinson, Jay Hopper, Doug Bryant and Rylen Dame.
