Obituary
She was born on October 7, 1926, in Highland Park, MI, to the late Mayme Clayton Wood and James Wood. She was an employee of the Hopkins County School Board where she taught as a school teacher for forty-six years at Grapevine Elementary School and was remembered well for her directing the Tom Thumb’s weddings. She had a passion for shopping and was known for her beautiful style from her home decorating to her fashion. She enjoyed playing bridge and loved entertaining. Elsie was a member of First Christian Church in Madisonville where she loved directing the Lord’s Supper.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jewell Rodgers; her second husband, Leroy Hollander; and stepson, Steven Hollander.
Elsie is survived by her stepdaughter, Barbara (Denny) Deweese and family of Rockport, IN; and her step-daughter-in-law, Susan Hollander and family of Evansville, IN.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Grapevine Cemetery in Madisonville.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Tuesday at the funeral home.
