The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office has the details about a fatal car accident yesterday (Monday) involving a single vehicle. Dead near the intersection of Nebo Road and J-E Ellis Road was 40-year-old Keith Daniels. Daniels’ Buick 4-door struck an embankment and rolled across J-E Ellis Road, stopping on an electrical box controlling the water pump for the city of Nebo.
The state is getting to know the new Hopkins County School superintendent. This week’s edition of the online publication of the Kentucky Department of Education includes an article on Dr. Damon Fleming. The Hopkins County resident was educated at Murray State University, Western Kentucky University, and the University of the Cumberlands. Fleming also spent 13 years in law enforcement. In Muhlenberg County, Fleming was a special education teacher and a principal of an alternative learning center for middle school and high school students.
In Washington, Kentucky Congressman James Comer says there’s mounting evidence from his Oversight Committee investigation that incicates that Joe Biden was not the one calling the shots in the White House. On Fox News, Comer said this is a historic scandal with massive repercussions. (Clip in audio below)
The archery deer season is underway. The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources urges hunters to review regulations and stay informed about deer health. Hunters should be aware of the latest information regarding Chronic Wasting Disease and Hemorrhagic (him-or-ADJ-ick) Disease.
The annual event that puts the spotlight on the State of Education in Hopkins County is coming up. It will feature the leadership of our local and regional educational institutions. The free event will be at the Steve Beshear Center for Postsecondary Education at M-C-C on Thursday, October 16th at 11:30. Those who attend must use email to R-S-V-P the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce.
The Madisonville police are reporting the arrest of a man who was swerving on his moped. The officer that witnessed the illegal driving by Charles Cowan followed him to a residence on Grapevine Road and informed him that he also had a suspended license. Then a new twist entered the story. The homeowner at the Grapevine Road residence then informed the officer that she did not know Cowan or why he came to her house.

A native Webster Countian is now the School Resource Officer at Providence Elementary. Sheriff’s Deputy Joseph Stone served in the Army for 19 years before joining the Webster County Sheriff’s Office. Stone graduated from the police academy last year.
