Linda Kay Solomon Teague, 78, of Madisonville, KY, passed away peacefully at Shemwell Healthcare on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
She was born on December 21, 1946, in Murray, KY, to the late Scott and Rena Solomon.
She attended Murray State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and, later, a master’s degree in education. Teaching was a field to which she was truly called. Having taught as a classroom teacher at West Broadway for thirty-five years, followed by another twelve years of substitute teaching in Hopkins County, Linda touched hundreds, if not thousands, of young lives. She even inspired many to pursue the teaching profession. Those who are lucky enough to call themselves her students will remember that she filled the classroom with infectious joy, fun, warmth, and a passion for learning.
Her love for her students was surpassed only by her absolute devotion to her family. While at Murray State, Linda went on a blind date with the love of her life, Jim Teague of Madisonville. They married on June 8, 1968. She gracefully managed the demanding schedules of three busy children while working, furthering her education, and volunteering at First Christian Church, where she was a dedicated and long-time member. When she did find free time, she loved traveling to new places, shopping trips with her daughters (several of which were 24+ hours with no rest!) and being the best Mama T to her six grandchildren. She reveled in orchestrating elaborate meals for her family, cheering on the Marching Maroons, and taking Sunday drives. Her family marvels at one particularly noble trait; that she never spoke ill of anyone and saw the best in every person and situation. She always offered kind words and sincere friendship.
Left to cherish her memory are Jim, her devoted husband of fifty-six years; son, Brad (Anita) of Smyrna, TN, daughters Jennifer (Jesse) of Newbern, TN, and Ashley (Richard) of Smyrna, TN; grandchildren, James Conner Teague, Zachary Teague, Wyatt Davis, Weston Davis, Aurora Hibbs and Barrett Hibbs. She also leaves behind one sister, Susan Solomon; cherished in-laws, Bonnie Roberson, Bill and Trudie Olsen, and Tim and Gina Teague; beloved niece and nephews; and lifetime friends, including Jim and Janet Martin.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2025, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home, 1030 College Drive, Madisonville, KY, with Rev. Kara Foster officiating. Interment will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2025 and from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Monday at the funeral home.
All are invited to a reception at First Christian Church, 1030 N. Main St, Madisonville, KY immediately following interment.
Pallbearers are Tim Teague, Hayes Teague, Jesse Davis, Wyatt Davis, Paul Olsen, and James Teague. Honorary pallbearers are Zach Teague, Weston Davis, and Bill Olsen.
