Paul Wesley Wilkerson, 65, of Madisonville, KY passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025, after a courageous fight with cancer.
He was born on December 19, 1959, to the late Kirby Wilkerson and Patricia Marpool Stewart.
Lovingly known as “Pauley”, “Willie”, “Uncle Paul”, “Cousin Paul” and many other unmentionable names. Paul brought many smiles and laughter to all that knew him. With not a serious bone in his body, Paul loved to “cut up” as he would say. Most anyone who knew him has a “Paul story”, many of which end in laughter.
He devoted nearly forty-five years of his life to a career at Outwood in Dawson Springs, KY, one might say he was a permanent fixture there. His compassion and care for others was one of Paul’s most wonderful traits. Along with Outwood, Pennyrile Animal Clinic was Paul’s second home for nearly thirty-four years. Not only did he love the residents at Outwood and the animals at Pennyrile Animal Clinic, but he also had an unwavering love for his work family who brought him so much joy.
Besides making people laugh, Paul enjoyed all things music. He was incredibly musically inclined and had a passion for playing the piano and organ. Paul’s purpose in life was to take care of others. Besides Coca-Cola, his favorite joy came from spoiling his great nephew, Gunner. He will leave a lasting impression on many of our hearts.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lisa Rickard.
Survivors include his brothers, Kenny (Lisa) Stewart of Eddyville, KY and Steve (Sandy) Wilkerson of Madisonville; sister, Condra (Kellan) Lamb of Calvert City, KY; nephew, Nathan Lamb of Smyrna, TN; nieces, Ashley Lamb of Nashville, TN and Jessica (Seth) Prow of Hanson, KY; great nephew, Gunner Prow; and his great niece, Addy Prow.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Pastor Kellan Lamb officiating. Burial to follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.
A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour Tuesday at the funeral home.
The pallbearers are Seth Prow, Patrick Sugrue, Dr. Paul Walter, Dr. Jared Tapp, Nathan Lamb and Kenny Stewart and the honorary pallbearer will be Gunner Prow.
In lieu of flowers or gifts the family request memorial contributions be made in Paul’s memory to your local animal shelter.
