Jimmy “Breadman” Baize, a cherished father, grandfather, and passionate bass fisherman, passed away peacefully at his home in Kuttawa, Kentucky, on March 4, 2025, at 7:06 PM at the age of 70.
Born in Earlington, Kentucky, Jimmy graduated from Earlington High School. He dedicated 28 years to Colonial Bread and later worked for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, serving both Hopkins and Lyon Counties.
Jimmy’s love for bass fishing was unmatched. He spent countless hours on the water, sharing his passion with his son, Jordan and his closest fishing friends: David Young (Brother n Law), Lee Fontroy, Allen Cunningham, Michael Travis, Gene Patterson, Dan Robinson, Tom Head, and Shane McElvain- just to name a few. He was a proud member of multiple bass clubs, including Wildcat Bass Trail,Hopkins County Bass Club, Union County Bass Club, Madisonville Bass Club, Mortons Gap Bass Club, and Dawson Springs Bass Club, where he won numerous tournaments.
He was known for his big heart, his love for aggravating those around him in the best way, and his unwavering loyalty to his friends and family, especially when it came to his grandkids. He was the best Poppy Pop, always making sure Javion and Delilah knew how much they were loved. He never missed a chance to picking them up from school to take them on special trips to McDonald’s, creating cherished memories filled with laughter, Happy Meals, and quality time together.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Julie Baize, and his parents, Ethel Rhye Baize and Harold “Buttermilk” Baize.
He is survived by his son, Jordan Baize, and cherished daughter-in-law, Melonie “Mel B”Baize; his beloved grandchildren, Javion and Delilah ; his sister, Diane Matchem; nieces Krishara Matchem, Chshana (Ethan) Drury and Brittany Pate; nephews Lynn Matchem, Micheal (Brandi) Matchem and Kody (Katii) Young and his Loving Life Partner over the last 3 years, Teresa Marks and her children, Robert and Amanda Grant and their Families.
A memorial service to honor Jimmy’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 11th 2025 at 2 pm Kuttawa Harbor Boat Ramp with Pastor Norman Cotton Officiating. Seating will not be available. However, you are welcome to bring a chair. If you wish to send flowers, in Jimmy’s memory, they may be sent to 7 Clover Circle in Cadiz,Ky.
Jimmy’s love for fishing, his ability to make people laugh, and the joy he brought to those around him will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace, forever fishing in calm waters.
