Chester Wayne Burden, 71, of Manitou, KY, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Hillside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Madisonville.
He was born on July 5, 1953, in Evansville, IN, to the late Nannie Taylor Burden and Oval Burden. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a furnace room operator for thirty-eight years for General Electric. He was a proud member of the Shriners and Masons for twenty-seven years. He enjoyed fishing. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Chester was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Ella Young; and his grandson, Logan Burden.
Survivors include his wife of twenty-six years, Naedean Markwell Burden; daughter, Tracey (James) Gibson of Evansville; sons, Perry (Tonya) Burden of Mt. Vernon, IN, David Markwell of Ohio, and Jason (Kurin) Young of Mt. Vernon, OH; brothers, Bobby Cattiller, Ernie Bivens, and Tony Harvey; ten grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2025, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Pastor James Gibson officiating. Military honors will be performed by the Hopkins County Honor Guard. Burial to follow at Island Community Cemetery in Island, KY.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the funeral hour on Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Perry Burden, Elijah Burden, Shawn Gibson, James Terry, Dakota Terry, and Shawn Dawson. The honorary pallbearer is Taylor Burden.
