James Carroll Gibson, 85, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville.
He was born on October 7, 1939, in Madisonville, KY, to the late Goldie Irene Jones Hughes and Omer Gibson. He was formerly employed as a carpenter for Day Construction. He was an avid fan of St. Louis Cardinals baseball. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. James was of the Pentecostal faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Gibson; son, David Wayne Gibson; daughters, Karen LongĀ and Lori Kapchinsky; and brothers, Raymond Gibson and Carl Gibson.
His survivors include his daughters, Jennifer (Joseph) Rager of Madisonville and Lisa (Randy) Candy of Broken Arrow, OK; son, Tony Gibson of White Plains, KY; son-in-law, Michael Long of White Plains; sisters, Mary Evelyn Alexander, Nancy Jones Zungia, and Shirley Ann Bowles; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2024, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Bro. Brad Payne officiating. Burial to follow at Concord Cemetery in White Plains, KY.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Tony Gibson, Michael Long, Joe Rieker, James Gibson, and Matt Richardson.
