Deer collisions can happen any day of the year, but according to records, this date has had more than the rest. Drivers should be extra alert, especially at dawn and dusk, and slow down in areas
where deer are likely to cross. Deer crossing signs are placed at locations where history has shown they like to cross. Remember, a moment of caution can prevent a serious crash. Last year in our state, there were over 34-hundred crashes.
The driver of a truck that was asleep in the drive thru of a Madisonville fast food restaurant is facing three drug charges. The police say that Christian Suttle was exhibiting the characteristics of a person under the influence of a drug. He admitted that he had recently smoked meth. Before transporting Suttle to the county jail, the officers located a glass smoking pipe with white residue thought to be meth.
The Hopkins County State of Education Luncheon will be held tomorrow (Thursday) the 16th at M-C-C. This event is free to attend, but you MUST R-S-V-P. The event will be from 11:30 until 1 at the Steve Beshear Center for Postsecondary Education.

This is the competition season for high school marching bands. This past Saturday, at the Western Kentucky Tournament of Champions, the Christian County Colonel Marching Band walked away with most all of the awards. Hopkinsville High School hosted the event and did not compete.
The report of a trespasser is what brought the M-P-D to a residence on South Kentucky Avenue. Christopher Brimm told the officers that he was looking for his dog. He allowed the officers to search his backpack. Brimm admitted that he had relapsed after attempting to end his use of a synthetic. He was placed under arrest and transported to the detention center.
The Webster County Sheriff’s Office has the details about a rollover accident on I-69. Monday afternoon near mile marker 1-35, Laci Harris of Henderson County lost control of of her Ford Focus and overturned multiple times before coming to rest in the southbound lane. It was determined that Harris was under the influence of alcohol and intoxicating substances. Her seatbelt kept her from severe injuries.
As the country marks another day of the federal shutdown, the governor is reminding displaced federal employees of the Team Kentucky website. Federal employees can search through open jobs in state government or across the commonwealth. They can also view a virtual career fair or speak directly with a free career counselor. A number of Kentucky deer are contracting a condition known as Hemorrhagic (him-or-ADJ-ick) Disease. Dr. Grant Woods says it an be fatal. (Clip in audio below) Woods says it can be transmitted by small biting insects, often known as no see-ums.
