In Frankfort, the Energy Planning and Inventory Commission has a new executive director. Hopkins County Senator Robby Mills says Eric King has a lengthy resume in energy and organizational leadership. Senator Mills was the primary sponsor of Senate Bill 349 which set up the commission to establish a long term energy plan for the Commonwealth. He says he is looking forward to positive outcomes from this group under King’s leadership.
The state police say criminals posing as funeral home representatives are sending illegal texts. The texts use a real name, and demand immediate payment for services. The K-S-P says you should not respond to such a text.. You should contact the funeral home.
Our local college is dedicating its Learning Resource Center in honor of the of the school’s President Emeritus. The school says Dr. Judith Rhoads had a visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to education that helped shape the college’s legacy and expanded access to higher education across the region. M-C-C says Dr. Rhoads impact continues through the the school’s facilities, and scholarships.
The Prescription Drug Take Back Day in Greenville is being deemed a success. Champions for a Drug Free Muhlenberg County says they filled a 5-gallon container and provided lock-bags for people to help keep their prescriptions safe. There will be a drug take-back day in Central City on Saturday, the 18th.
Do you have a lot of paper that needs to be shredded? Fall shred day in Madisonville is Saturday, the 18th, at the Parkway Plaza Mall. It’s from 10 until 1. There is a 5-box limit.
The Hopkins County Fiscal Court meets this morning. New business includes a resolution that allows for the filing of a grant program for tornado cleanup. The meeting begins at 10 in the Government Center on North Main Street.
Madisonville’s natural gas-only distributor believes the city needs some more pipe replacement. Atmos Energy says steel pipe will be replaced by High-Density Polyethylene pipe. The project will replace replace 72 service lines on sections of Princeton Road, West Jagoe Street, and Victoria Street. Service lines are lines that run from the street to the house. The completion date is likely to be in December.
A nonprofit organization that has stood as a symbol of quality and excellence is saying Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville has achieved accreditation through the Accreditation Commission for Health Care. President Alisa Coleman says this is a significant achievement that recognizes and honors the organization’s commitment to providing safe, quality, and compassionate care. Accreditation is a process through which healthcare organizations demonstrate compliance with national standards.
Health experts say adjusting to time-changes twice a year is harmful to your health. Medical research shows that time changes are linked to heart attacks, strokes, car accidents, and injuries, not to mention sleep, mood, and metabolism issues.
