Madisonville Community College is expanding its service area. Incarcerated individuals at the Green River Correctional Complex in Central City may pursue either an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree. Research consistently shows that college-in-prison programs reduce recidivism and improve post-release employment outcomes. Classes are delivered remotely, with an on-site coordinator providing academic support.
Owensboro Health Regional Hospital is offering Western Kentucky a new technology. Pulse Field Ablation is a cutting-edge, minimally invasive treatment for patients with a common heart-rhythm- disorder that can cause palpitations, fatigue, shortness of breath, and increase the risk of stroke. The hospital says it’s a safer and a more efficient option for treating atrial (A-tree-uhl) fibrillation.
The Madisonville police are reporting on a driver who should not have been behind the wheel. Cody Ellison was transported to the county jail after the traffic stop. The officer reported that Ellison’s driver’s license was suspended, he was not wearing a seat belt, that he failed to use a turn signal.
The Madisonville police are charging a man with trespassing. A police officer spotted Greg Ezell at a certain Chateau Mobile Home Park address on South Main. The police say he was aware that he is not allowed there. Ezell is now at the detention center.
The Hopkins County Tourist and Convention Commission says the Kentucky State Disc Golf Championship will be played in Madisonville this weekend. Hundreds of disc golfers from around the country are expected. There are courses at City Park and Mahr Park Arboredum.
This year’s air show at the Madisonville airport will have a new twist. Madisonville Mayor Kevin Cotton says it will take place in the evening.
The air show in Anton will take place on Saturday. Gates open at 2 and the show begins at 5.
The Crofton man found driving a stolen vehicle is also facing other charges. The Oak Grove police say 56-year-old Leon Cardwell was found to be in possession of meth, a meth pipe, and a suspended D-U-I license.
There are times when you should not take the wheel. The other day, it would have been better if Nicholas Thornton had not driven his Escalade Cadillac. At the traffic stop, the officer found that Thornton was driving on a suspended drivers license, and was not able to prove he had auto insurance.
Business owners interested in connecting with others and sharing ideas are invited to the next Small Business Roundtable. It will be in Madisonville at city hall on Friday, the 24th at 9. A light breakfast will be served.
The Hopkins County State of Education Luncheon will be held on Thursday, the 16th at M-C-C. This event is free to attend, but you MUST R-S-V-P. The event will be from 11:30 until 1 at the Steve Beshear Center for Postsecondary Education.
A local group is working to make sure some of Muhlenberg’s earliest residents are not forgotten. The Friends of Muhlenberg County Cemeteries say the new list includes 50 locations. This now includes the Wells and Stobaugh Cemeteries.
