Obituary
He was born on September 24, 1955, in Madisonville, KY, to the late Mary Ruby Cunningham Holmes and Alvin Earl Holmes. He enjoyed being outdoors and collecting watches. Darrell was of the Christian faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Harold Holmes; brother, Troy Holmes; and his sister, Mildred Cunningham.
His survivors include his sisters, Rosemary Starks of Nebo, KY, and Peggy Holmes of Dawson Springs; brothers, Larence Holmes of Alabama, Bennie Holmes of Madisonville, Paul (Donna) Holmes of Madisonville, Clinton (Sheri) Holmes of Sacramento, KY, Wesley (Karen) Holmes of Madisonville, Nelson Holmes of Dawson Springs, and Earnest Holmes of Dawson Springs; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Bro. Timothy Holmes officiating. Burial to follow at Olive Branch Cemetery in Hanson, KY.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Friday.
Pallbearers are Jason Starks, Terry Starks, John Paul Holmes and Freddy Hamlet.
