A suspicious person is what drew the police to Madison Square Drive a few days ago. Upon coming in contact with
Mitchell Diamond, the officers concluded that it was very apparent that Diamond was under the influence of a controlled substance. He could not maintain a normal conversation or stay on the subject. Diamond is charged with being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Our local hospital has a new pain management tool. Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville says its imaging capabilities allow for more accuracy in finding pain generators. The O-E-C Elite C-arm was purchased with a donation from the Madisonville Opioid Abatement Fund. Patients are reporting that the pain levels have dropped from a 10 to a one.
Three state officials from Frankfort will be in Madisonville tomorrow (Tuesday) as part of the activities for All-In for Ag Education Week. Commissioner of Agriculture Jonathan Shell, Commissioner of Education Robbie Fletcher, and Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman will visit Madisonville North to congratulate the F-F-A Team for winning the School Garden Salsa Contest at the Kentucky State Fair.
More rental homes are coming to Western Kentucky. Hopkins County is included. Governor Beshear says they will help those still rebuilding following the storms of 2021 and 2022. (Clip in audio below) The rental units will be commissioned by Spirit Of Christmas All Year Round, Incorporated. 48 of them will be in the new Marketplace Commons in Dawson Springs. These will be high-quality, professionally-managed apartments for families earning 60 percent or less of the area median income.
The Madisonville man who threw a brick at an employee of the Homestead Personal Care Home on Thompson Avenue
is in jail. The incident occurred last Wednesday morning. The police were told that 32-year-old Jordan Carroll threw the brick and walked away. At the jail, the police say Carroll threatended the jail staff.
In case you haven’t heard, the extended period of dry weather is responsible for a burning ban in Hopkins County. All outdoor burning is prohibited.
This afternoon’s meeting of the Madisonville City Council will include amending part of the code of ordinances relating to property taxes. The 4:30 meeting will be in the city council chambers at 77 North Main.
Even though we’re in a dry spell, Kentucky has had a record rainfall this year. This has caused several road problems in Dawson Springs, but Mayor Jennie Sewell is glad to report the next big road project. (Clip in audio below)
High quality, affordable apartments will be built in Dawson Springs. Marketplace Commons will have space for 48 families. The developer has now closed on all the properties, and construction is expected to start in the couple of months.
In Muhlenberg County, the school district feels led to clarify a word in the dress code. In a Facebook post, they say the word torso is the central part of the body that connects the head and limbs, comprising the chest, abdomen, and back. The district says this explanation was needed in their opinion because there has been a lot of confusion over the word.
