The National Weather Service says predominantly hot and dry weather is forecast through early next week.
The U-S flag at all state office buildings is lowered to half-staff until sunset on Sunday in respect for Charlie Kirk who was fatally shot at a public event in Utah. This directive came from Governor Andy Beshear.
The newest event in Hopkins County is Madisonville Salutes. There will be military booths & displays, live music, kids activities, and community fun all day. The program kicks off tomorrow morning at 10 with 11 full hours of activity at City Park. Here’s Mayor Kevin Cotton. (Clip in audio below)
In Madisonville, the Kentucky Sports Factory has its first founding partner. First United Bank and Trust will be announced as that institution today at 2. The event will include a 250-thousand dollar check presentation. It will also include the announcement of the new food and beverage and concession stand. The Kentucky Sports Factory is at 839 Midtown Boulevard.
Just for the record, Madisonville’s West Side Wastewater Treatment Plant is one of the state’s best. For the 20th consecutive year, they have earned the Education and Labor Cabinet Governor’s Safety and Health Award. They have gone over 648-thousand hours without a lost time injury or illness.
The Madisonville Salutes event at City Park includes two memorials. The Traveling Vietnam Wall & Cost of Freedom Tribute is an 80 percent scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. It’s at City Park through the 14th. The Traveling World War Two Memorial is also at the park. These memorials pay tribute to the sacrifices made during war.

The public is invited to attend a virtual community forum series to discuss ways to improve outcomes for families in the foster care system. Registrants will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom meeting link, one week before their town hall. A Madisonville dog owner knows that it it took the fire department to free her dog from being stuck under a shed. At the East Broadway residence, the rescue spreader was able to lift the building enough for the dog to turn around and get out.
