The Webster County Sheriff’s Office is reporting the arrest of the woman who allegedly assaulted her ex-girlfriend. On Tuesday, Khila Bradfield is reported to have pointed a loaded rifle at her and her boyfriend at a residence on State Route 370-East, but that it malfunctioned. This led Bradfield to assault the victim with the weapon, damage two vehicles, and take her victim’s wallet. Law enforcement notified all officers to be on the alert for Bradford. She was arrested in Owensboro by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office and was taken into custody without incident. Bradford faces five charges. They include robbery and assault.
A health fair in Madisonville tomorrow will be focusing on a number of health concerns, including the coronavirus, health diets, breast cancer, diabetes, and obesity. The event is intended to make underserved communities aware of the importance of living healthier lives. There will be a free lunch. It’s from 11 until 3 at the Rosenwald Smith Multicultural Center at 208 North Kentucky. To register, search Bowles Center for Diversity Outreach.
Recent changes in Kentucky law will make cursive writing instruction a requirement in elementary schools starting this fall. For years, Iris Hatfield has been recognized as one of the best handwriting teachers. (Clip in audio below) Hatfield says when children are able to connect the letters, their handwriting is more fluent. She says it can increase the speed of writing, which is helpful in note taking.
Hopkins County now allows special purpose vehicles on certain roads. The fiscal court ruled in favor it it this week. Here is Judge Executive Jack Whitfield. (Clip in audio below)
Another store is about to open in the Madisonville Town Center. Rack Room Shoes will have their grand opening tomorow morning at 10. As a part of its community efforts, Rack Room Shoes is donating 25-hundred dollars to their Shoes That Fit campaign that will provide new shoes to children in need.
A popular street in Dawson Springs is closed. The police department says a section of East Munn Street between South Main and Poplar streets will be closed because it may be unsafe. An engineer will be assessing the road’s condition.
A Crofton man is facing an assault charge. Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say 29-year-old Ronald Aldridge is charged with second-degree strangulation, fourth-degree assault, and second-degree criminal mischief. The incident involving his former girlfriend occurred Sunday night on Empire Road.
The governor is announcing state support for building development projects in 11 counties. To accommodate growth and create jobs, the Muhlenberg County Fiscal Court and Paradise Park Regional Industrial Development Authority will receive funds to develop a 25-acre site and building at the Paradise Regional Business Park.
In Dawson Springs, the police are giving away calendars. Residents are invited to stop in and pick up one. They say donations will be going towards their Shop with a Cop program.
