A Webster County teenager is missing. The sheriff’s office is searching for 17-year-old Timya Wahrton. She is described as a biracial female with a light complexion, black shoulder-length hair with a red streak on the left. Wahrton is approximately 5-foot-3, 150 pounds, with a muscular build. She has a Mom and Dad tatoo on her right hand, and the word “blessed” on her right wrist. If you have information about Timya Wahrton, please contact the authorities.
The driver of a swerving car on I-69 the other day is facing 8 charges. During the traffic stop, the officer reported the strong smell of alcohol in the Honda Civic of Jose Calles. He was not able to prove he had insurance and it was learned that his driver’s license had been revoked. A search of the car produced liquor and beer. It was also found that that the address on his identification card was not correct.
The Hopkins County Jail is holding a woman the Madisonville police found stumbling down the sidewalk. Traci Sloan was arrested near the intersection of West Noel and Murray Street. Sloan admitted she was taking prescription pills. She is being charged with Public Intoxication of a Controlled Substance.
The family of the Greenville man who died due to an unintended discharge of a weapon at an Air Force base in Wyoming is calling for the weapon not to be used anymore. It’s reported that the Sig P-320-variant service pistol took the life of Brayden Lovan. Firearm brand Sig Sauer has maintained that the weapon is safe, while the attorney representing the Lovan family is reported to have said that the weapon is missing key safety features.
When the Madisonville city council meets this afternoon, 7 resolutions will be considered. One of them involves entering into a Statewide Emergency Mutual Aid and Assistance Agreement. The 4:30 meeting will take place at city hall.
Too much window tinting can lead to a traffic stop. George Gamble was stopped on South Main. The officer reported the strong smell of alcohol, and burnt marijuana. After the officer found 50 T-H-C vape pens, Gamble was arrested.
Hopkins Central High School has a new addition. The multi-purpose room and auxiliary gym also doubles as a public tornado shelter. It’s the third in the county. The other two are at Madisonville North Hopkins and at South Hopkins.
Our governor believes now is the time to focus on attracting new investment. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear says the Commonwealth is experiencing record-breaking economic momentum. (Clip in audio below)
FEMA says Kentucky’s houses of worship and other private nonprofit organizations may be eligible for assistance to help with recovery from the April floods and May tornadoes. The Public Assistance program may reimburse these organizations for eligible costs of debris removal, emergency work and restoration of facilities. Kentucky received presidential Public Assistance declarations. These declarations enable state and local agencies as well as houses of worship and certain other private nonprofit organizations to apply for federal Public Assistance grants.
