The National Weather Service says the hottest temperatures of the season will arrive this weekend, and continue into a little of next week with heat index values as high as 105.
Wherever there area boats, there can be accidents. Two men capsized their fishing boat on Saturday morning at City Park. Until they were rescued, they were holding on to a concrete pillar in the middle of the lake. The fire deparment acquired 2 kayaks from City Park, and paddled out to the men to give them life jackets. That helped them swim back to shore. The fire department used a rope to pull the boat out of the water. The boat contained a number of personal items.
In Frankfort, the Transportation Cabinet will be using a Rural Consultation Survey to help formulate their plan. The public is being asked to participate in order to provide insight. You can get the internet link by visiting the Facebook page of the Transportation Cabinet.
The state director of Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates says rural communities suffer the nation’s worst family planning and sexual health outcomes and continue to struggle with access to safe and convenient obstetric and reproductive healthcare. Tamarra Wieder says removing that protection will be catastrophic for women in rural counties who already face barriers. (Clip in audio below) Kentucky’s Human Life Protection Act bans all abortions except to save the life of the mother.
The Madisonville Fire Department reports that no one was home on Saturday when the weather caused a tree to fall on a house. To repair the residence on Park Avenue, the Madisonville Utilities restored the power, and an electrician, and a roofing company were contacted. Losses in property and contents is estimated at 8 thousand dollars.

Representatives from the Felix E. Martin Jr. Foundation and the Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville Foundation say the renovated Women’s Care Center in Powderly is nearing completion. The two foundations provided funding for a full remodel of the space, as well as new ultrasound equipment to better serve the women of Muhlenberg County. The facility is at 10-10 Medical Center Drive.
The Greenville Police are issuing a scam alert. Some have received a text message like this. Our records show that you have an outstanding traffic ticket. In accordance with Kentucky State Administrative Code, if you do not complete payment by June 8, 2025, we will take the following actions. And then it gives the dates you have to follow. At the end it reads: Please pay immediately before enforcement to avoid license suspension and further legal disputes. Again, this is the scam text. The bad guys hope some will fall for it and provide them with personal information.
