The regularly scheduled meeting of the Madisonville City Council is this afternoon. A discussion item will be permission to contract services from businesses owned by a city employee or businesses where a city employee has an interest. The meeting begins at 4:30 at city hall.
250 new jobs are coming to Greenville. Biomass Engineering & Equipment is expanding with a 16 million dolllar investment. The new facility at the Paradise Industrial Park will consolidate operations that are currently spread across multiple locations. Here is Governor Andy Beshear. (Clip in audio below)
Webster County Emergency Management is glad for the residents of Providence. The dispatch center is now officially handling 9-1-1 calls. In general, it means a streamlined emergency response in Providence. The 9-1-1 number is only for ememgercies. The old number is for non-emergency requests.
A Muhlenberg County man is headed to federal prison for five years for distributing child pornography. The case of 41-year-old James Rosenkranz was investigated by the F-B-I Office in Owensboro. After his prison term, Rosenkranz will have 10 years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
The Dawson Springs Housing Authority is having a bicycle giveaway for city residents. To participate, stop by city hall and enter your child’s name in the drawing. The drawing is this afternoon at 4:30.
It seems that more Kentuckians are familiar with how FEMA works. Meanwhile, the Hopkins County Director of Emergency Management says it can be a long and drawn out process. Here is Nick Bailey. (Clip in audio below)
The FEMA Disaster Recovery Center in Hopkins County is at the Hopkins County Fairgrounds on Arch Street. They’re open Monday through Saturday from 9 to 7 and Sundays from 1 until 7.
Based on a woman’s erratic movement and behavior, the police were recently called to Baptist Health Deaconess. The officer who had had previous dealings with Amanda Matheny judged her to be under the influence of a controlled substance. When the decision was made that she posed a danger to herself and others, she pulled away from the officer as he attempted to place her into cuffs. Matheny was charged with public intoxication and with resisting arrest.
A two-vehicle collision in Madisonville the other day is what landed one of the drivers in the detention center. In investigating the accident, Janae (JAN-uh) Chadderton informed the officer that she had no auto insurance that that her driver’s license had been suspended.
The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commission says surveillance measures are now in effect for Webster, Henderson, and Union counties. Deer harvested in nearby Posey County-Indiana indicate the presence of chronic wasting disease. It’s a contageous, fatal neurological disease. Hunters must bring deer harvested during the first three days of modern gun season to a staffed check station for testing. There will also be carcass transport limits.
