Madisonville’s leadership is helping shape the Commonwealth’s economic future. The Kentucky League of Cities invited Mayor Cotton and Deputy City Administrator Brad Long to make a presentation at the recent Summer Summit. Cotton and Long shared their insights on retail recruitment.
The Madisonville police are reporting a case of domestic violence. It states that Jeriks Chellamkottu (chellum-KAH-too) struck his wife with his fist at their residence on Celeste Lane. Upon arrival, officers separated the two.
Traffic stops are often associated with the driver’s registration plate. When the Madisonville police stopped Johnathan Sampson on McCoy Avenue, they found that he had two arrest warrants. A smoking device was also found in his possesion. Sampson also did not have a valid insurance policy.
The Kentucky Sports Factory is putting Madisonville on the map in many people’s lives around the state. Brad Long is the Deputy City Administrator. (Clip in audio below) The 90-thousand square foot facility has the flexibility to host local, regional, and national events.
With the intention of advancing the commonwealth’s public education system and job growth, the governor is launching the Pre-K for All initiative. The intention is to make pre-K an option for every 4-year-old. Mr. Beshear says Pre-K for All increases kindergarten readiness, eliminates child-care deserts, boosts parents’ take-home pay, and saves families out-of-pocket child-care costs. He also says it grows the the labor force and the Commonwealth’s economy.
During a traffic stop, the driver’s automotive life comes under review. Recent, after the officer provided Central Dispatch with the name, it was found that the driver was deceased. Bobby Carter is charged with theft of identity. It was also learned that there was an arrest warrant for Carter.
The Hopkins County Jail is announcing a major accomplishment by a member of their team. Marci Oldham has successfully completed the process to become Alcohol and Other Drug Treatment Entity certified. Until now, the jail had to contract with external providers. Following an inspection by the Kentucky Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual Disabilities, the program was issued its license. This means the jail is now a state-licensed facility that provides substance-use disorder treatment.
In Frankfort, several task forces are being established to help promote policy information. The newest one is Make Kentucky Healthy Again. The co-chair is Representative Matt Lockett. (Clip in audio below)
FEMA says homeowners and renters who suffered uninsured or underinsured damage to their property from the April storms now have until July 25th to apply for assistance. Victims are also encouraged to file insurance claims for damage before they apply for FEMA assistance. FEMA cannot duplicate insurance benefits or other sources of assistance.
