The traffic stop of a speeding car on South Main in Madisonville is what led to a sobriety test. The police report states that Samantha Burger was going 15 miles over the speed limit, and the odor of alcohol was in her Chevrolet Malibu. Burger admitted to drinking before she left her house. She added that she had taken a prescription medication earlier in the day.
If someone ever does a documentary about gas leaks, the M-F-D would suggest this one. The other day, there was a report of a gas leak from 2-54 Ada Lane. The homeowners were in the yard waiting for the first responders. Just that day, the gas had been turned on, leading them to believe that that could be related to the problem. In no time, the matter was solved. The alarm the homeowners thought they heard were some earbuds in the kitchen.
The investigation into the cover-up of President Joe Biden’s mental decline and potentially unauthorized issuance of sweeping pardons and other executive actions is expanding. Congressman James Comer and others are calling it one of the greatest scandals in our nation’s history. (Clip in audio below)
This is the 16th year of the Hopkins County Soap Box Derby Association. There will be two big races on tomorrow (Saturday). (Clip in audio below) The races are an all day event at Baldwin Drive.
Since the April tornado, the Hopkins County Humane Society has not been able to take in new animals. Director Dustin Potenza has been rounding up help from nearby groups. (Clip in audio below) Meanwhile, efforts are underway to raise the funds needed for a new venue.
The Madisonville police are reporting the arrest of a person who violated an Emergency Protection Order. They were informed that Elizabeth Ezell was at the Ideal Market on East Center Street. The store clerk recognized Ezell when she was pumping gas. The order stated that Ezell was not be within 100 feet of the property.
In Madisonville, what happens if a fire with an active burn permit is causing a resident to complain due to the smoke? That happened recently on Rolling Acres and the M-F-D sent a non-emergency vehicle to the site, and with the permission of the resident, extinguished the fire with a garden hose.
The Webster County Clerks Office will begin registering Street Legal, Special Purpose Vehicles for use on selected roadways on Friday the 27th. The use of these vehicles” on roadways is contingent on local jurisdictions. The county says if a vehicle does not meet all the requirements necessary by Kentucky Revised Statutes, it will not pass the inspection.
In the Hopkins County Schools, there’s a new director of secondary instruction. Dr. Tim Roy has been the principal of Caldwell County Middle School. He has been principal at James Madison Middle School and assistant principal at Hopkins County Central. Dr. Roy did his graduate work at Murray State University.
