The driver of an I-69 vehicle displaying an improper temporary tag is facing four charges. Gage Goben and Ladarius Grady were arrested Tuesday afternoon. It was found that Grady was in possession of a handgun even though he is a convicted felon. The police say the gun was using illegal hollow point ammo. The M-P-D reported that Grady tossed the handgun out the window as well as several bags of marijuana, but to no avail because they were retrieved. Goben faces six charges, including reckless driving, and fleeing from the police.
If you just moved here and don’t know what’s going on, here’s what happened. Last month, a tornado destroyed the main building at the Hopkins County Animal Shelter. No animals were seriously harmed but it’s been estimated that it will cost about one and a half million dollars to construct a new one. Melissa Taylor says the challenge now is to raise money for the new building.

Two paving projects are underway in Webster County. It includes almost three miles of U-S 41-A in Dixon. That’s from Jim Villines (vuh-LINES) Road to Tapp Road. When that’s done, the road crew will begin working on Kentucky 56 in Sebree. They’ll work on a half-mile section from just west of North Street to the intersection of 56 and U-S 41. New pavement will be applied next week.
The coach of the Madisonville Miners is in his third year. Last year, Brian Campbell serves as the Associate Head Coach at Vincennes University. Under his leadership, five players earned spots on the All-O-V-L Team, and last season, Campbell guided Madisonville to their FIRST-EVER regular season championship. The Miners open the season at Paducah Saturday evening and play Hoptown in the home opener on Sunday evening at 6.
The purpose of the new West Kentucky Film Commission is to act as a marketing agency. They want movie producers to see Kentucky as a productive location for film production. While the commission has its roots in Hopkins County, several other cities want to be included. They include Bowling Green, Franklin, Central City, Henderson, Owensboro, and Paducah. Over the past year, Madisonville and Hopkins County have played host to multiple film productions.
Webster County Emergency Management wants everyone to know that FEMA assistance from the April 2nd storm is not only available for those that had flood damage but any damages associated from the high winds, rain or flooding. The Disaster Recovery Center is open in Sebree at the Onton United Methodist Church at 15 Wrightsburg Road. The hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 to 7, and Sunday from 1 to 7. FEMA representatives will explain the assistance programs, and help connect survivors with recovery resources. The deadline to apply is June 25th.
Kentucky Congressman James Comer says there is much about the final days of the Biden Administration that needs to be evaluated. On Fox Business, he said his House panel is looking for answers. (Clip in audio below)
Muhlenberg County Career High has a new principal. Brad Devine will direct the Job Corps facility. Devine had been an assistant Principal at Muhlenberg North Middle School.
