Webster County Emergency Management says the FEMA Disaster Recovery Center in Onton is open. The hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 to 7, and Sunday from 1 until 7. Residents impacted by the severe April weather and flooding are encouraged to apply. If you had to relocate due to no access to your home and have expenses, you are also encouraged to apply.
Smoke from a malfunctioning air conditioning unit at the Baymon Inn on Lantaff Boulevard is what drew the fire department to that address the other afternoon. . Firefighters used a battery powered fan to vent the smoke and reset the alarm panel.
An illegally parked car on South Madison Avenue is what led to the arrest of a passenger this week. Ginger Curneal was found to be in possession of a container of methamphetamine. She was also in possession of drug paraphernalia and a prescription that was not in the proper container.
The process is underway to find a new high school principal in Muhlenberg County. An online form will help the district address this need. There’s more on the district’s Facebook page.
Two local counties will be able to take advantage of Disaster SNAP benefits. The program is designed to offer short-term food assistance. The location for Muhlenberg is in Greenville at 103 Industrial drive. The Webster location is in Dixon at 26 U-S 41-A South.

The Madisonville Hopkins County Economic Development Corporation has some positive news. 44 graduating seniors officially signed with local employers and took the first step toward building their careers here at home. The E-D-C believes it’s a moment to celebrate the students who are entering the workforce with purpose and to recognize the businesses that are investing in homegrown talent. The E-D-C says that investing in students today builds a stronger economy for tomorrow.

The driver that made an illegal turn is facing two drug charges. During the traffic stop, Steven Royal and his passenger were unable to provide proof-of-insurance to the officer. The k-9 Loki discovered narcotics and drug paraphernalia. The officer was then notified by Central Dispatch that Kaylan Mitchell was wanted in Hopkins County. Royal and Mitchell were found to be in possession of meth and drug paraphernalia.
Madisonville is welcoming a new police officer. Steven Ealey is a native of Hopkinsville, and a 2019 graduate of Christian County High School. He also joined the Army and was active for four years with the Engineer Brigade at Fort Hood. Ealey received the Army Achievement Medal and two Army Good Conduct Medals.
