The Hopkins County Judge Executive is spending a lot of time still dealing with the impact of April’s rain. Jack Whitfield says the Tradewater and Pond Rivers need attention. (Clip in audio below)
Two dozen more counties have approval for individual assistance due to the April flooding. They include Webster, Muhlenberg, and McLean. Hopkins was approved in the initial announcement. Residents and business owners who sustained losses can begin applying for assistance. The internet address is: Disaster-Assistance dot G-O-V. You could also use the FEMA app.
The Madisonville police are dealing with a perpetual trespasser. The police report states that Dudley Starks Junior caused many disturbances on the Sunoco property in the 600 block of West Noel. Starks most recently was arrested on Tuesday morning and warned not to return.
A swerving car on North Main is what led to the driver’s arrest. During the traffic stop on Pride Avenue, Angela Stover informed the officer that she was on medication. She then informed the officer that she had used T-H-C in the hours before she took the wheel. She also turned in two packages of marijuana. After failing the sobriety test, Stover was placed under arrest
The Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force are holding two men charged with trafficking meth in Central City. Dominic Lunsford and Johnny Eaton were found with 350 grams of meth and 14-hundred dollars in cash.
It’s looking like the main building at the Hopkins County Humane Society on Laffoon Train is going to have to razed due to storm damage. Executive director Dustin Potenza says it’s due to storm damage and some coding issues. (Clip in audio below) The Humane Society is now in fundraising mode. They estimate that the cost of replacing the building could reach one point five million dollars. The first major fundraiser will be a fun-run-walk 5-K on Saturday, June 14th. They’re calling it the Run for the Paws.
The country is getting the details about last month’s floods that impacted many Kentucky communities and families. Congressman James Comer addressed the House of Representatives. (Clip in audio below) Mr. Comer extended his gratitude to the first responders, utility workers, and volunteers for their service.
The Christian County Sheriff’s Office says the driver of a Jeep that flipped several times into a revine on North Greenville Road in Crofton on Tuesday is recovering in Nashville. It’s reported that the 47-year-old male driver from Dawson Springs was ejected from the vehicle. A witness told deputies that speed may have been a factor in the accident.
Three major events will close out the year at MADISONVILLE NORTH. On Sunday the 18th, the Baccalaureate service will be at Victory Church at 6. The Awards Ceremony will be Monday at 1. The Graduation will be Thursday evening the 22nd at 7.
