(MADISONVILLE, KY.)
Wednesday evenings storm event that ripped through the entire state of Kentucky left many wondering what would happen. A majority of the region dealt with tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings. It was the single most warned day since 2011.
As a line of strong thunderstorms slid across western Kentucky, a tornado warned storm that brought strong winds out ahead of the cells, damaged the roof to the Hopkins County Humane Society. Rain water poured into the opened wound of the building where they hosted eight-five cats and their offices. It left staff to scramble into moving the animals to other host spots.
Luckily, a huge outreach of community support helped clean up loose debris from the building. Many shelters across the state took animals in as the building in its current state could no longer host the cats and dogs. For the time being, the shelter is going to temporarily close its doors. They’re working on assessing the damages to see what they can do to open back up.
